Free Labour???

One of my clients is simply taking me for granted. She wants me to help her scan in her products into the system!!! EXCUSE ME!!! I am not one of your staff ok! Even though I've helped her key in some stuffs previously but it does't mean that I'll be helping you all the time. Well, I have a suggestion on for her - stop MSNing and spend more time WORKING.
And when I told her to ask her beautician to help her, she said they're busy with facials and training. I told her I'll be busy this week and I can assist her through the phone. Then she said that we're supposed to help her.
Yes, my job is to help her in terms of training and assisting but not doing HER job.

I'll be asking her to sign lots of stuffs later so that she can't deny the fact that I've been training her on how to do those things.

She's getting on my nerves already!!!

Merry X'Mas!!!

Yesterday, I always surfing the web and came upon a blog of a girl. Like me, she just graduated from poly and is working too.
Her office Santa gave her a big Christmas this year - IPod Mini from her bosses this Christmas *Envy*AND with her name engraved behind *ENVY*ENVY*

How great it is to be working in a good company whereby you enjoy what you're doing and your colleagues are great people to work with.

My office
Santa - "Merry Christmas Geraldine" (-.-)

Allow me to rant again:
I don't like my present job in terms of working environment and my colleagues. Not that they're mean or nasty people but it seems to me that I'm not treated as one of the staff here. Well, why do I think so? - I was not invited to the Christmas party or any gatherings...
Forget about asking me about my 13 month bonus or any incentives. I was even reprimanded when I ask about my overseas allowance the other time.

On a happier note:
My Santa @ home is GREAT!!!
- My long awaited MP3 player is finally in my hands... Thanks to sis for paying half of it and her bf for helping us get such a good price.
- Received my 21st birthday present from Mum (and my b'day is like 10 months away)
- Bought shoes and earrings (cost is shared with my sis)
- Had wonderful lunchs during Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day!!!

Battle with the Mosquitoes

Wanted to blog about how I forgot to bring my Hp out this morning, and this "crazy" old lady who sat beside me on the bus. But the previous sentence sums up - I had a bad start this morning.

My office has Mosquitoes!!! Actually this is not surprising to me, as I've got bitten too many times already. My legs are showing how much they're worth (10 cents, 20 cents etc). Despite wearing pants to work yesterday, the VERY hungry mosquito bit my feet. Desperados!!!

Think I'm going to get insect repellent - spray it on my legs/feet before I go to work everyday.

I wonder how many people do the above before going to work??? Except for those army guys...

Wanted to blog since last Saturday but was rather bored/tired to do so.

Went to my client's grand opening (G.O) at Suntec on Saturday and understand the meaning of GO. G.O for business owners = selling of packages to everyone. G.O to me = $406 flew out of wallet unwillingly. I'll be having my facials there forthe next 7 months. Let's see how it goes... it better be good manz...

Singapore Idol:
Before the show started, I was thinking that I'll vote for who ever sing well. In the end I voted about 15 times for Sly. Don't know why I voted so many times, but seeing him last night just made my sis and I voting for him "crazily". Our combined votes of 30 was not enough to make him the first Singapore Idol. Was feeling a little sad when Gurmit announced that the winner is Taulfik. No doubt, he sings well, but he just doesn't appeal to me.

I got to track my expenses rather tightly now, though I make sure that I don't spend more than $500 per month, my remaining salary seems to disappear. On the other hand, I've FINALLY received my Sept, Oct and Nov claims. Yeah!!!

Iit has been almost a week and my wisdom tooth still hurts . The gums around it is swollen, and if I'm not wrong, it may be an ulcer :(

The company which I am currently working at is a SOHO and my working environment is kindda scary at times. Today, I heard my boss and his other "employee" quarrelling + fighting! *scary*

This is not a good working place for me.

It's YOUR Fault!!

Someone said that to me today. Not once, not twice but trice repeatedly during the 4 minutes phone conversation.

I won't deny the fact that it was partly my fault. BUT when a problem arise, wouldn't it be more appropriate to come up with a solution 1st then blame the person (if u want)

Moreover, he did not understand the situation well enough to blame me; afterall the customer did not see a problem to that as she understands that it's not my fault. Perhaps I've not mastered the skill of looking beyond a situation to foresee any problems arising.

Though he did tell me what to do to prevent further problems from surfacing, I can't help but "hate" him.

Petty I may sound, but this is not the 1st time the "blame" is pushed to me, or rather us (my ex colleagues). Is it really time for me to start flipping the Classifieds Ads???

What happened during the past 3 weeks

It's been such a long time since I last blogged so this is a pretty long entry

Last week of October
- Received the SIA recruitment letter stating that I've been selected for the 1st round of interview. Was so excited and was planning what I should wear that day.

1st week of November
- Fed the mosquitoes in my office and my legs are scared with their bites.
- Can't wear a skirt for the interview as the scars are so terrible after I scratched them - very red and bruised.
- Bought a pair of pointed heels from Charles and Keith for only $37 and I love it.

THE DAY
Huili went for the interview early in the morning at 8.30am. We had a talk over the phone and she told me to prepare for a self intro as that's the time to impress the interviewers within 3 minutes. So, my sis went through with me how I should introduce myself - talk about past job experiences etc... Tried to memories my self-intro "script" during the next one hour.

Fast forward to interview:
I was the 2nd to introduce myself and the interviewers said we have 1-11/2 minutes. How am I going to shorten my 3 minutes intro to 11/2 minutes??? Soon it was my turn. I stood up and started talking. I don't really remember what I said as I was so freaking nervous and I think I just blabbered out anything that I remember. I knew I was not going to make it through. 3 people made it through to the next round from our group of 10.

I screwed it up totally - I was so not calm and confident enough.

To make myself feel better, I went to Changi airport to meet up with mummy to try the "famous" Poepye chicken. The set me cost $7 and the only thing I like about set is the fries and the Pepsi drink...The food there is just not my taste and I was feeling worse as I sensed that I was getting a sore throat soon.

I'll definitely send in my application in the next recruitment drive and if I do get to go the 1st round of interview again, I'll just do a simple and true introduction of myself. Oh yes, I'll also not be too bothered on what to wear, because now, I truly believe that you may dressed to kill but if you can't present yourself well, it's just not what they're looking out for.

I hate it when:

- my electric eyelash curler is not working & had to go to work with uncurled lashes
- there's a heavy rain on my way to work *felt a little depressed, don't like rainy days*
- people think it's my responsibility to do the job when it's actually not. The worst is when I have to do their "shitty" stuff
- I have not receive my claims for last month
- my clients ask me why they can't do certain stuff with the software just because my boss told them they're able to it before the sale was close and now say that it'll be tricky and complicated if they want to do it.
- My boss decides not to be too involved with these projects after the deal is closed and I have to handle everything.
- a 3 minutes conversation on the phone will last more than that because the other party can't just answer straight to the questions.
- a dinner appointment was made at 6.15pm but the person told me that she has another appointment at 7pm. Was I expected me to finish my food within 30mins??
- I had to reject another appointment date just because the person above insisted on meeting today but yet cancelled it last minute.
- the stupid lift at Paragon stops moving after 7pm. Had to take the cargo lift up just to return a key to my client.
- when I have no dinner and had to settle on instant noodles as I was too tired to buy food from the coffee shop.

To sum it off - 25th October'04 is not my day...

Shopping!!

Met up with one of the flowerpod podders to collect my orders for the shawls ( black and creamy white) today. The material is rather thin but can't expect much as it's only $3.50 each.

After which I had lunch at McDonalds, tried the savory grilled beef burger and I rather like it. As my cravings for fast food has not died down yet, I think I'll be eating that again pretty soon...
yummy!!

Saw a Mango sweather which cost $65!! I'll seldom spend so much $$ on a single piece of clothing and something which I can't wear to work (except Fridays). But I really like it alot as it's purplish pink in color + butterfly embroidered on it + puff selves + very comfortable material. After trying it on for the "x" number of times, I decided to head to the cashier. Can't wait to wear it.
*excited*

Hopefully on my next shopping trip I'll get

"Need" list:
- the right pair of shoes
"Want" list:
- a pair of square diamond earrings

Submitted application... finally!

I submitted the application for the SIA cabin crew only this morning even though the deadline was yesterday. The mail box was full therefore I did not manage to send it through successfully last night. Hope they'll take my application into consideration. Keeping my fingers cross!!

Guess I'll be quite busy over the next few weeks as we've just closed 2 new deals. Kind of looking forward to working on it. Maybe it's been like 2 months since we started on a new project.

Checking my yahoo mail frequently to check if there's any from SIA... keke

Jerry - out from Singapore Idol

Tried 2 skirts, 1 flowery dress, 1 yellow top and 1 yellow cardigan @ This Fashion but I left the 2 storey leveled shop empty handed. I am so disappointed, the clothes look so nice on display but not on me.

Finally, Jerry is out from Singapore Idols! I saw this poem (tribute to Jerry) on SingaporeIdol.net forum and personally think that it's rather sweet:

Looking at tonight's farewell tribute
I could not help but wilt
Anyone can tell from your face
That you've accepted the results with grace
I could almost hear the sigh of relief
That you are now spared from those who did not believe
Many people who blamed you for the exit of Jeassea
Are the same people, who does not vote but talk for free
Your strength in handling the criticism thrown at you
Have convinced me that your humility is true
May negative feelings about you go away
And your dreams be fulfilled one day.

Though I don't like Jerry as a singer, it seems to me he's kind of a nice guy. Read that he was booed during an appearance of the Lime's bash and he wrote down his "sad" feelings in his blog.
After all the criticism from the majority, he still smiles at the camera and thank the judges for the comments unlike Christopher who showed his "I can't be bothered" face.

Seriously, I admire Jerry for his courage and the attitude of striving for what he really wants and believing.
But on another note, maybe he should just continue on what he is really good at, which is definitely not singing :p

Just to sum my thoughts in point form:
- Singapore's Auntie Anne's does not have most of the flavors of pretzel that's listed in the site :(

- I was inefficient at work today
- Singapore Idol - Disco night was boring!! So disappinted with most of the contestant's performance. Sly - what's with the tounge sticking out?? Olinda - the outfit :P Jerry - no comments, the judges said it all. Don't think I'll rush home tmr to view the results.
- I am going shopping at This Fashion tomorrow. They've nice minis, but I don't think I can wear them to work so may not get those. Hope to get the cardigens in colours of
shocking pink, black, yellow
-I've 6 more days to write the cover letter for the SIA application. 1st time writing a cover letter so my sis will be helping me go through it once I'm done.
Sis: thanks in advanced yeah!!

How to use the S.A.M machine

I headed to my client's place after lunch. One of the beauticians there treated me with one of Auntie Anne's sour cream & onion pretzel. It's my first time eating pretzel and I am in LOVE with it! Its so delicioussss (not that I am hungry as I had quite a heavy lunch b4 that).
I visited
Auntie Anne's site and realized that there're so many other flavors available and I'm going to try most of them soon. :p

I went to a S.A.M machine after work as I had to weigh a letter for postage. There was this lady who was using the machine, whom I wished I could have given her a lesson on how to use the machine effectively and efficiently. She had 3 different bills to pay and this was what she did:

- scanned barcode for the 1st bill
- enter NETS pin
- selected "no other transaction"
- took receipt
- scanned barcode for the 2nd bill
- enter NETS pin
- selected "no other transaction"
- took receipt
- scanned barcode for the 3rd bill
- entered NETS pin
- selected "no other transaction"
- took receipt
- ended her transactions finally!

If she did the following:
- scan barcode for the 1st bill
- select "another transaction"
- scan barcode for the 2nd bill
- select "another transaction"
- scan barcode for the 3rd bill
- Enter NETS pin
- Take receipt
- Leave the machine!

, I would have reached home earlier...

SIA is recuriting again......

As above. It has always been my dream to be a Singapore Girl. I've downloaded the application form but am still considering if I should send it.

Devil
: IF you get in, you got to leave your current job (not that I LOVE my job)
Angel
: Go ahead and pursue you dream. What makes you think you'll get in anyway??

I've heard so many about how bitchy/materialistic this industry can be but there's also the fun part of working and visiting different countries at the same time.

The percentage of me sending the form over is 60%.

If I get in:

- I can be a S'pore girl afterall! (but it seems like their standard of choosing crews are dropping)
- I'll get so much exposure/experience (something which I can't get from office jobs)
- I'll save up as much as I can (heard that they get quite a sum for allowance)
-
If I don't get in:
- continue with my job (not that I'll continue working there for the next few years)
- continue sending the applications forms

Should I? Should I not?

Many things going on my mind. But I am too lazy to type it.
Definitely not something that's worth remembering, thus I shall not blog about it.

May my weekend come soon

updated 16:40
Relieved!!!!! Yeah.... the long awaited scary presentation is over in just 1/2 hour.
After the presentation, I think I should just go bang my head against the wall. Three years in poly and a diploma for networking, I can't even rem what's the 7 OSI layer and other terms used in the networking environment.

During the presentation:
Boss: you know the OSI?
Me: OSI??
Boss: the 7 layers?
Me: oh yah (but I don't rem what are the 7 layers name)
Boss: do you know etc etc.....
Me: ehhh...

He wants me to read up over the weekends. Praying hard that my netprep book is still chuck in some corner of my house.

He said something which really "touched" my heart
Boss: Boss 2 say you cant do it, but I think you can.
Me: ...........

Hopefully my brain cells can put in as much info over the weekends so as I can present myself better next week.

---------------------------------------------------

To many, the weekend mood is with them already. But I think I'll be feeling it only 8 hours later. I hate this kind of feeling, reminds me of school days when I can't wait for the exams to be over.

Think my presentation will be very short as my ppt has very little slides. I really don't know what to write.....seems like I am repeating the points over and over again.
We'll see how it goes. Will update 8 hours later

Devil vs Angel

kindda bored right now..
anyway not going for the eyebrow shaping later as I got a free shaping at my client's place yesterday. haha how great is that!!!
ahaving a mini interview session tmr with my bosses. the current software that i am working with now does not bring in much sales therefore they may want me to do another software. that explains the interview tmr. got to do a powerpoint presentation to show my understanding for that software.

and guess what!!!! my project manager (one of the bosses) actually thinks that i am unable to handle the software... well well.... how demoralizing is that...
makes me really wonder if what he said is true coz i currently dont really understand the software and i also think that i cant handle that kind of clients (networking ppl, administrator)

i am really confused now:

Devil: "dont bother abt it, if they dont want you, go find another job. anyway u dont really enjoy working here now"
Angel: " read up on it and do well for the presentation tmr, this software is in demand now, and it'll look good in ur resume"

Someone, help me kill the devil please!!!!!!!!!!!!

p/s: the presentation is in the EVENING . how boring can that be...

update 21:50
going to do the ppt now......................argh....... cant wait for tmr evening to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marilyn Monroe Layout

Finally managed to get this layout up a little. Looking at those html codes reminds me of those days in poly when we had the web publishing (webp) module. hehe... remembered we had to do our own website...
Seems like there's so much more "fine tuning" for me to do on this layout.
keep a look out ya!!

1st Post

First entry of my blog... keke... not very sure what to fill it up with. test test 1st...
