Day 3 (morning): Shin Yokohama

We had a night stay at Shin Yokohama before moving to our next desitnation - Osaka. Hiroko auntie booked us a room at 新横浜国際ホテル which was walking distance to the train station. The night stay cost SGD 238 and it was the best hotel among the 3 we stayed for this trip :p

Dinner was at Tenya which is apparently a fast food chain all over Japan. Haha... Mummy LOVE the tempura there so much that she cant stop raving about it whenever she view the picture. Now that we know its a chain, we fret not in having to go all the way to Shin Yokohama to have a 2nd taste!

As it was only a night stay, we shopped around the shopping centre which is located beside the station and didnt had the chance to visit the famous ramen museum. Anyway that wasn't really my concern as my pirority was to get my hands on Ramen Jiro in Tokyo!! kekeke

What the....

In March, I was tasked by J to work on an invitation design for a conference which was to be held in HCMC. Well, I wouldn’t say that I’m a designer or expert in doing such things but having done some doolings prev, i certainly was interested in this task.

So, I started doing a HCMC city theme with the famous City Hall picture in the invitation. Next, was asked to do an Amazing Race theme. Sure, that sounds fun! I surfed online to check out the amazing race clue card picture and did one out. Then there was some ding dong-ing going on the text etc. Therefore I sent the working file to J to amend the text.

2 days later, he sent the file back and I opened it - other than the size of the card, and the picture of the City Hall, it was with a whole new design and text!!What happened next was damn ironic: Couple of days after the invitation was emailed out, J came to me and said something like "Hey, good job on the invitation, heard some good feedbacks on it"

HUH?? I beg your pardon!!!! Perhaps he was telling me that to show his appreciation of me working on it but seriously, I don’t need that when 90% of what I’ve done has been changed.

When working on such "projects" I can’t help envy the marketing folks whose ideas are always so cool, so apt, so appreciated.

=======================

Was roped in to help out for a company’s event sometime in July and did whole lots of stuffs prior to the event and on the actual day itself. As part of the committee, we got to get a jacket each. Therefore I did a size fit from the vendor and made sure I placed the right size order for myself – XS.

So after the event, the event organizer passed me the jacket and I told him I ordered 2 XS - one for myself and other colleague. However, he passed the XS to his participant which left him with only 1 XS now. He then passed me the S and passed the XS to the other colleague! I did so much shit and you cant give me the correct size for the jacket which I placed the order?!!?!

Felt so unappreciated that I dumped the jacket into the cupboard which stores all my samples. I don’t need something which fits too big for me OK….

Hello Uncle Johnny

15th Feb 08 - I didn't got the chance to say "Hello, Uncle Johnny" after my last trip in when I was 12 yrs old, whatsmore a "Goodbye Uncle Johnny" when he left us.

10th Aug 09 - I paid my respects and brought him his favourite chicken rice, bananas and nescafe. Together with Daphne , we stayed for about 20 mins before I threw 2 coins "asking" if he has finished his meal.

I hope he enjoyed it :)

Day 1 & 2: Home stay

We took the 11pm SQ flight and arrived at Tokyo Narita airport the next morning. When Hiroko auntie arrived at the airport, we arranged for our luggage to be couriered over to our hotel at Osaka.

This kind of courier service is really good especially so if you do not wish to lug your luggage all the way to the hotel when travelling by public transport. For a fee of around SGD 30, you get to travel light and do not have to worry about carrying the suitcases up the stairs and walking around looking for your hotel. There’re a few of such companies at the arrival area so pop by to any booth for enquiry. Just remember to have your hotel details on hand to fill up the form.
. cakes . store @ Uneo .
. hot soba with deep fried shungiku . Uneo station
. mentaiko . Kimura Takuya .

I can’t really recall where we went on the 1st day beside Uneo (Ameyokocho) and to Hiroko auntie’s house area but there’s no way i will forget dinner! We had fresh sashimi and sushi and after which I never see these 2 dishes in Sg the same way again unless I pay the price for it.

Though it was only a night stay, I truly enjoyed the experience of soaking in a hot bath, sleeping tatami style, waking up to Jap breakfast, helping to do some housework, having the cute neighbour twin boys over to visit us and also to meet up with Hiroko auntie’s mum!

Why seat belts are so damn impt!

Were these signs to tell us that we shouldn’t be on the road:

- Told Mummy that I didn't feel like accompanying K to collect the cake as she had to be back by 11.30am and it doesnt really "flow" with my gym class and facial appt timing.
- She mounted the curb when she was driving into my car park.
- She almost mounted the parking curb again when we were @ Adam market

We just passed Coronation Plaza when the accident happened. I think she was trying to filter to the right lane but didn't notice that the car in front of her was not moving. I said “got car, got car” and the next moment, she swerved to the left lane and hit the back of the ice lorry (which was doing a delivery and illegal parked) !

“Shit!, sure bang!” was what went though my mind during that split second.

Out came the 2 airbags and some smoke. K was still in kindda shock and she said that she did applied the brakes immediately. I went out of the car (fearing too that there’ll be an explosion) and check on the damages. Boy, it was BAD!

An ang moh came from a nearby restaurant and asked we were ok. Later a very sweet couple passed by and also asked the same thing. They next moment, they lent us their red triangle (which got crashed by another stupid car) and accompanied us till the tow car and the lorry driver and supervisor came.

Thankfully, no one was hurt in this accident. (answer to the title of this post)

And I'm so gonna belt up even if I'm seated behind in future.

Arrogant

Just because you’re not a local doesn’t mean that you’re in any way of a higher status than us.

Do not use that questioning tone as if we’re too stupid to understand what you’re saying

Hmph!

What I ate in HCMC - Part 2

During this trip, I’m really thankful to HS and his staffs for bringing us around to try authentic local food.

Row 1:
We had the superb mixed beef pho @ Pho Hoa (this is the only branch and they do not have any franchise, not even the one in Sg is).

The seafood dinner was delicioussssss! For $50, the 5 of us finished off 1 kg of prawns (stir fried with assam and artery clogging pork lard) 3 plates of shellfish dishes and seafood porridge. We even requested for baguettes so that we can dipped it into the sauce from 1 of the shellfish dishes. That’s Singaporean style for you!

Row 2:
Wrapped with lotus leaf, the Ban Giao is filled with flavorful minced pork and black fungus, and the outer portion tastes like our chwee kuay. It’s so good that I bought a dozen back home. This resulted in my bag being checked at the Viet airport when it went through the scanner. Well, they let me “off” as they know that it’s merely their local food and this crazy lady likes it so much that she had buy them back home :p

HS said that Viet is not just of Pho or rice roll therefore he brought us to try this yellow noodles with a soup base which tasted slightly like tom yum with slices of fatty pork, prawns and fish cakes. Yet another delicious meal I had in HCMC!

Row 3:
I vividly remembered that duck fetal eggs are sold in Vietnam. And when HS suggested the different kind of exotic food (rabbit meat) we can try there, I said yes immediately to try the eggs! It doesn’t taste that bizarre: slightly like hard boiled egg with hard crunches in between bites. However, I did had trouble getting the last few mouths down my throat. :p

What I ate in HCMC - Part 1

Being in HCMC, I decided to forgo the air-conditioned cafe and opted to have our drink from a street side vendor. It’s just something I had to try – sitting in those plastic chairs; experiencing what the locals do. Those thirst quenching lime juice and sugarcane juice were so damn good that I finished them in less than 5 mins! Just ignore the scene whereby the vendor handled the ice cubes and money with the same hand :p

We were to full to try the delicious looking fried carrot cake and Bánh mì (Vietnamese baguette with bbq pork and eggs). Salivating while writing this.

Lx and I woke up @ 6.30am on the last day in order to do some last minute shopping before our flight home. Breakast was at Nhu Lan as we wanted to buy the delicious Ban Giao back to Sg. Oh... how I miss the ice coffee in Viet and I’m not even a coffee person, that’s how good it is!

Cao Dai Temple and Cu Chi Tunnel - day tour

. Breakfast @ Kim Café . Boarding the tour coach .
The tour started from 8.30am to around 6pm. Majority of the time was spent on the coach as the temple and cu chi tunnel is located quite far from HCMC. It’s interesting to see how devotees of the Caodaism come together everyday at noon for a prayer session. You’re not allowed to pose for a picture along with the statues as it will mean that you’re on the same status as the God.

. Temple . Prayer session .
. Cu chi tunnel . Tapioca with peanut dip .

Lx and I went into the tunnel and before I know it, we’re out from it. If I’ve known, I would have chosen the right side route which is longer and slightly smaller. Perhaps due to our Asian frame, I didn’t really felt claustrophobic or nervous inside the tunnel.

Lx, Shree-ann (new friend from SG who was travelling alone) and I went to have the famous Pho @ Pho 2000 (Pho for the President > as per signboard as Bill Clinton patronized them before). It’s pretty good but you’ll spot mostly tourist inside the shop. After dinne, we shopped around the night market and I had difficulty shopping as I did not bring out much cash. Shopping with limited cash in your pocket is quite a toture! Therefore, the next day I made sure I had enough Viet dong and Sing dollar :p

Back from Saigon!

It started with a work trip of 5 days followed by “Graduation” trip of 4 days with the girls.

Work for me was generally assisting in the logistics aspect – room booking, airport transfers, group activity and other misc stuffs to ensure that the conference will run smoothly. Though the breakfast in Sheraton is 1 of the well known place with a good variety of breakfast spread, I hardly had time and mood to enjoy the food. In fact, I hardly had any appetite during the 5 days.

While, things took a turn when the conference ended on Friday and we were in HCMC on our own!

As we were quite tired, we spent the Friday afternoon in Kim’s café stoning and drinking cheap beers before Lx and I headed for dinner @ Ban Xeo. Anthony Bourdain raved about it in his show, but like what HS said to me over the phone “Not nice one la”….I guess he's right. It wasn’t that bad but it's not worth the effort for us to travel all the way there (quite far from our hotel).

. Sheraton . baguettes . Ban Xeo .
. t-shirts . street vendor . lacquer ware .
. traffic . cone hats . mix fruit with yogurt .

After dinner, HS and his staff met up with us and brought us for drinks – a shop which sells tropical fruit shake (the jackfruit + mango juice, topped with ice cream was delicious!). That night, I had my 1st pillion ride on a motorbike and was holding to the back for my dear life as the traffic in HCMC is known to be quite 'scary'. However, I had 2 more rides on our last night in HCMC and it wasn’t that scary anymore, in fact I had a pretty good time and kindda enjoyed the ride.

After 7 years of friendship...

We had our 1st “trip” together in June 2006. A boat ride away from SG to Pengerang Kelong… well we had our passports chopped after all… keke

Come 17th Apr 2009, we’ll be exploring Mr Ho's city together!!

Hr & I will be there for our company’s conference 1st. Lx will then fly in and meet us on our last day of meeting. No detailed itinerary is out yet but since we’ll be there for 4 days, we’ll take it “nice and slow” amongst the buzzling city filled with motorbikes and noise :p

Back soon!

It’s just so ironic that when I’m back to my blogging feel, my dear PC had to show me the blue screen with a “Fatal Error shutdown message!

Well, it’s been 7 freaking long years since it has served me – through my poly to part-time degree days. It has finally decided enough is enough and had to shut me off without me saving all my pictures!!! Yup, that’s all I need to retrieve from my PC…

Anyway, I’ll be “turning” back time (from Oct 08) and jotting in my thoughts and memories back to this blog soon.

KOM in Langkawi

It was an event which I’ve been looking forward to since the day I started work in this present company (1 yr ago).

The annual marketing kick-off meeting is a big event which I certainly need to be involved in my work position. Though I was not able to join them for the reece trip in Apr due to budget constraints, I was glad that I still had the chance to follow them on the actual trip.

I had a great time during:

- Dinner at Sunday bistro & restaurant. Beautiful restaurant that serves excellent food. A must go @ Langkawi!
- Packing the gift pack with the RMT.
- Lunch at a rice padi restarant
- Team building activity of Tree planting (Corporate Social Responsibility.
- Did my 1st full body massage there but didn’t really enjoy it that much. Give me foot massage instead anytime! haha
- Gala Dinner which Pirates of the Sea was the theme. Everyone was on their feet dancing away!

I almost can’t make it to the Gala dinner as my big boss wanted me to be back in office 1 2 days earlier as to what was planned, for god knows what since I was not handling anything urgent which requires my immediate attention in office. Nevertheless S told them that I was already assigned with tasks and that I can’t be back earlier.

Though we were there for a week, we were always in the hotel and didn’t get to visit any of their tourist spot. However, this whole trip was definitely an experience for me as I got to see how the marketing people work as a team and how “work hard, play hard” applies to them. Though there were times which I felt a tad left out as I’m not in team, they made me felt that what I did was appreciated by them – a bouquet of flowers and teddy bear was delivered to the office for me when we went back to Sg. :)

Advice from the Sis

I teared in confusion as I was afraid to make a decision; afraid that I was taking a “risk” for my group project. I was contemplating whether to call you that night seeking for your advice. But I thought that I should be independent and be firm on my decision.

My mobile rang when I was in the midst of a project discussion and was super super glad to hear your voice. I told you I missed you and I think it was the 1st time I told you since you left in Aug.

I explained to you the dilemma I was facing and you gave your feedback and advice on how I should handle the situation. Just to let you know that I felt so relieved and reassured that my decision was right after the call with you.

Thank u Sis!

Outing with the colleagues

1st stop of the day was Qian Hu fish farm for fish therapy. We paid $10 for a half hour session and had our dead skin cells on our feet eaten by the fishes. Keke I kindda had many fished feeding on me unlike Jess as she does body scrub weekly, thus the fishes can't find any “food” on her. I actually prefered he bigger fishes as it was more of a sucking feeling as compared to the slight electrifying feeling from the small fishes. (Bigger fish, more sensation - as written on the board)

Farm mart was the 2nd stop where we rested and had snacks and drinks. Seriously, there isn’t anything there that interests us there so we headed for Vivocity to window shop and for the aircon! Keke

Dinner was settled @ Superdog which was yumz yumz before heading to the last stop of the day – Dempsey Hill. Ok, call me sua ku but it was my 1st time there :p We waited for seats at the super crowded Bens & Jerry and had 6 scoops of ice cream for $21!! Sucker us.

What caught my interest in Demspey was Jones the Grocer – it was as Australian as it can get. It reminded me so much of Sydney (I think we did visited the store when we were there?) I checked out the menu and confirmed that this is a place I definitely have to go with Sis for brekkie when she’s back.

P/s: Don’t forget our date when you're back ya :p

Last Leg of the Trimester!

updates 29/5: IMC passed!

It’s a brand new trimester and hopefully the last! Results are out with Credit for both SHRM and International Marketing. IMC is not out yet though *fingers crossed* for I’m most worried for IMC. On another note, it’s sad to see the selfishness of human kind in the 1st lesson of this trimester. But well... for each of his own aint it?

All the same, this trimester would be hectic with projects due one after another. We’ve been through it the past 1 year and I believe we’ll make it through this last one.

Chiong ah!!!!!

It’s a love and hate thing...

I hate the projects, the cramped datelines and exams.
I hate the school system and support staffs
I hate the fact that this trimester’s unit coordinators are stingy in giving exam focus areas.
I hate it when plans to attend convocation @ Perth are scrapped*

BUT I love the times I spend with my classmates.
I love how Kareen and I get excited discussing about food.
I love how our project working styles complement each other.
I love how we end the stressful week of work and school by happily gorging ourselves silly with unhealthy supper! :)

*Apparently, students for bachelor programs do not graduate with the mortarboard there, merely donning the gown. Oh well, at least the convocation is SG would be in full force (with si4 fang1 mao4).

It's not about the food

The dim sum supper @ Geylang He Ji Pau wasn’t anything much to blog about. But the mediocre dim sum did leave us very full. Perhaps the deep fried dishes overwhelmed us.

Anyway, since we were at the famous red light district of Singapore, we decided to have a “tour” around the lorongs. We locked the doors and look through the windows like tourists on a sightseeing trip. We checked out the similar looking rows of numbered houses, the pimps, the men, the women, the legal/illegal transactions, and Hotel 81s.

It was indeed an eye opening sight and that made up for the unsatisfying supper :p

He said she's brave cos...

courage to wait for the correct person to appear in their life.
~ The Leap Years ~

Supper? Yes!

3 supper trips to Chomp Chomp in 2 weeks is definitely not a good thing to our waistline.

But who could resist the sinful dishes of satays, sugar cane drink, chicken wings, fried hokkien mee, fried carrot cake, pork porridge and prawn mee. Not the 4 of us for sure. *burp*

It’s time to think of other supper haunts as we’re almost done with the selections @ Chomp Chomp ;p

Busy busy

Life’s been busy these few weeks.. @ work and with sch project.

I’ve been skipping a couple of lesson this trimester; as I see no point in attending Sats’ class since the lecture is pretty boring. Fancy going all the way to town for a 3 hour “lecture” and then back home... On another note, I GOT TO (better) start preparing for my exams that is set around end Apr!

Workload in office is starting to increase but I’m still pretty fine with it at this moment. With a new system coming up and a colleague leaving soon, lets just hope that everything will be manageable for me. After all this is the 1st job which made me say “I enjoy what I’m doing now” when my classmate asked if I wanna join them visiting the Career fair to start looking for a job related to the tourism industry.

Goodbye Uncle Johnny

I can’t even remember when was the last time I saw him. Yup, that was how long it ago it was…more than 10 years back perhaps. There’s has been discussions for me to pop in Malacca - to visit them, tour around, gorge on street food etc.

Next time” people (I) often say...School has always been the reason for me to put many off plans. Now, I no longer have the chance to see him again as he departed on 15th Feb from heart attack.

I spoke to Daphne over the phone on Sat and I think I heard her choking back on her words and that made me started crying again. I quickly said goodbye and ended the conversation before my tears flow non stop.

Trimester 2 results

Law – Dist
Service Marketing – Pass
Sustainable Tourism – Pass

Kindda shock that I got D for law, but well, I aint complaining :p

During the 2 weeks after exams, I was praying to let me at least pass my SM. Upon seeing the P; I heaved a sigh of relief. But still, human are greedy species - my after thoughts were - a credit would look nicer on my transcript…

Stupid ST, took freaking long to came back on the results. The suspense was intense when we checked for the results everyday. Managed to scrapped though but Kareen plus some classmates didn't manage to pass. Wonder if their appeal would be successful…

I seriously hope that our class would be able to graduate the same time as I truly appreciate this group of classmates, some turned good friends :)

Krispy Kreme from London!

Having read countless post on how much people love their KK. Here I am joining in the “I’ve received KK” posting, here goes…

Haha, half dozen hand carried by Mummy. Guess dearest Sis selected the flavors – 3 glazed, 1 choc filled, 1 raspberry filled and 1 custard filled. The glazed ones were kinnda sweet for my liking. But overall it was pretty yummy, especially after toasting it for 5 mins.

I won't crave for it, but I sure wouldn’t mind having another half dozen come July :p

Law – ok
SM – ALL focus area was not in any of the questions! Keeping fingers crossed + praying real hard

15th Dec - Mummy went to London to visit Sis and will be there for 3 weeks! Keke, Nevertheless I survived through 2 weeks already. Dinner were mostly settled with packed food, tuna with macaroni, rice with minced pork (mummy cooked and freeze 4 packets if it) Haha. Anyway, I’ve been a good girl - cleaning the house aka “exercising” every 2 days.

*******
We had company Xmas buffet lunch @ Marina Mandarin on the 19th Dec and was allowed to go home after that. I quickly made my way to the temple to pray, followed by to Grandma’s place as it was her Bday. Her grand children held a mini celebration for her :p. stayed for dinner and accompanied her to watch TV. Before I left, she told me to pop by when I’m free and at that moment, I felt real bad as I realized that it’s been a while since I last visited her. Hmm.. maybe I should have dinner there one day after work next week…

*******
J’s wedding on this Sat and I have not decided what to wear! Worse case, I’ll not stick to the pink theme and just wear my red dress in the morning

No Jazz Bar for this night out...

. some chicken wrap. lime magarita .
. mud pie @ Coffee Club . drinks .
Met up with the classmates for dinner @ Café Iguana (17th Nov) to discuss about Jolene’s wedding. It doesn’t seem like a right choice as the service was quite bad and the food is pretty normal. Only the margarita is worth the trip there. Like my last visit there, I drank as if I was drinking limejuice; only till I felt the sudden heat then I realize I was half way through my drink while the rest drank only like ¼. Quickly drank lots of water in between my sips to “drown off” any further effect.

After the unsatisfying dinner, Cat suggested going to a Jazz bar @ Boat Quay. I like~ put 2 hands up to agree with the idea. Alas, Jolene wasn’t too keen so we proceeded to Coffee Club to have desserts and drinks…It’s okayyy, Cat and I will go there someday after exams!

A New Environment... again

Yup. I’ve resigned (last day - 9th Nov) even before my probation period is up. All I could say is the work environment and job scope is seriously not something I enjoy doing. And in short, there’s simply no motivation plus I don’t think I share their mission and vision.

It’s my 2nd day @ work today and all I could say is the environment of an MNC is definitely different (better). Anyway, I didn’t really gota chance to have on the job training yet as they’re quite busy with meetings to have a proper handover. Lets see how it goes in the afternoon~

My 1st bouquet of flowers!!

okie, this post was under draft till I just spotted it - supposed to be posted after my Bday!

It was delivered to my office and I had to go to the counter and collect it. NEVER would I imagine it to be sent from Sis and was “trembling” in shock and delight when I saw her name on the card. Haha, she said she wanted it to be special for me therefore she got Zr to arrange it to be sent to my office instead of home. I called Mummy to tell her about it but she sounded cool, Chey… cos Sis called her in the morning already which explains the “Oh is it” attitude. Keke.

Love love love the flowers and surprise! Thank you babe!

p/s: Took about 100 over narcissism photos the next day ...

23rd Birthday!

The day itself was spent @ sch doing our group project BUT I got a surprise cake from Cathleen and Kareen. It was so thoughtful of them to throw in a mini celebration amidst our stressful discussion. Cat insisted on lighting up the candles and even ran up to the 3rd level to borrow!

Again, after reaching home, I continue with my Law assignment and can you believe that I broke my 2am (latest time to hit the bed) rule and slept @ 3.30 am, 12th Nov morning when I’ll be reporting my 1st day of work! Thank god, there was nothing much to do on the 1st day as I was feeling super lethargic and sick (sorethroat)… Too much good food I think ;p .

12th Nov - Jolene bought 2 slices of belated Bdaycake for me today! Haha, sweet classmates I’ve got :)

Birthday Lunch @ Lei Garden

Invited Lx and Hr to join us for lunch @ Lei Garden and we ordered the set lunch plus some ala carte dim sum. The gals were so sweet to get me a “surprise” cake. I kind of suspected them getting one as Hr said she’ll be late and will call Lx for the directions to reach the restaurant.

. crystal vege pau . xiao long pau . prawns . har kau .
. lotus & peanut soup . pork . spinach . eefu noodles . pumkin & yam dim sum . complimentary rice balls . sesame filling (i like~) . choc cake .

Lei Garden was also nice to provide complimentary dessert of tang yuan and a Bday card. They even helped to pack the remaining cake in separate boxes for us to bring home. Their service never fails to amaze me and Mummy is planning to celebrate Grandma’s Bday there in Dec as Grandma hinted to have it in a restaurant this year.. keke so cute of her. Anyway, we’re always ready to bring her out for celebration just that sometimes she isn’t too keen to dine out. After lunch, we headed to Thos B at Raffles City to hang out and gossip before heading home in the evening to rush out my Law assignment…

“她有小动作的”

It’s kind of scary when someone sees through you. Little actions made by me are being noticed - such as my eyes turning to look down whenever someone whom I’m not very close to talks to me and I disagree etc.

And the thing is I’m not very close to her…(though I see her 5/7 days a week)

Day of New Food…. But not of my taste :(

Went to Amoy Market for lunch and tried the Hakka Thunder Tea Rice aka Lei Cha Fan as I’ve heard Sis raved about it previously. Tried a little portion of the tea and I knew it was not my taste of liking. In the end, I ate the rice filled with veges only while looking at those nicely steamed white chicken hanging @ the stall beside my seat.

I was lucky in a way that I had “vegetarian” lunch as my dinner was pork and more pork! The couple picked us up @ Tanjong Pagar and we headed to Bugis for Xiao Long Baos @ Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant. It’s a Shanghainese restaurant - similar to Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao. What we ordered could put me off xiao long baos for a few months. Can you imagine all we had was different kind of xiao long baos (2 kindsof mushrooms, shrimp, vege, normal pork, crab meat, crab roe) and the famous Big Xiao Long Bao which requires you to use a straw to suck up the “soup”. Unfortunately, this big one is with crab roe and the taste was not of my liking again. It tasted too “seafoody” which was weird as I’ve always liked seafood (crabs, prawns). Perhaps the thought of me being allergic to shrimps has put me off. Anyway, this dinner of steamed dumplings cost me $25. That’s a total of $125 worth of dumplings we had!

Next stop, next month: HooHa! (Westend) Yeah! At least I know I’ll like the food there (think Fish & Chips!!) Wonder how they’ll split the bill though if they order the steak :x

How Suay…

Is it because my eight character clashes with my current company? I’ve been ill since the 2nd week I joined. Headache, wisdom tooth removal, and now rashes?!

Red spots surfaced on my feet, hands and scattered in some parts of my body since Saturday evening. At 1st, Mum scared me saying that it might be measles. After visiting the doc, he said prima facie, it might be food (shrimp) allergy. Was it the small shrimps in the fried rice that causes the outbreak? I was never allergic to prawns but the doc say that our body changes and allergies will occur anytime in our life. Hopefully, with the medicine he gave, the rash will disappear by Wednesday :(

I lost my Wisdom...

tooth I mean.. 2 of it. It all started with a toothache around my wisdom tooth and after a dental checkup, the dentist, whose attitude puts me off warned me sternly that I’ve to remove it. I understand that I’ll need to remove it else the pain will still come back. But can’t he sound friendly instead of lecturing me…

Anyway, went to the TPY polyclinic yesterday morning to get a referral letter.. Ah… the doctor is so much nicer. Sadly, NDC could only slot me in for a consultation next Tuesday. Afraid that the swelling would worsen, I decided to walk-in for registration and was prepared to wait for 2-3 hours before my turn.

Had a super quick lunch @ the cafeteria before rushing back to make sure that I don’t miss my number as they’ll call me in whenever the doctor has an empty slot. Was so lucky to have waited around only 45 mins for my turn. The doctor even apologized for letting me wait (though mine was a walk-in registration). He asked several questions before getting my X-ray done. After seeing the X ray, he asked if I wanted to do the extraction today ?! I was like “You mean now? Here?!

Through a friend’s recommendation, I actually had a doctor in mind to do my extraction; therefore I was hesitating whether I should let him do my extraction. Several thoughts filled my mind “Is he new? He looks young? What if he’s using me as a practicing patient?

After some consideration, I gave a firm reply “Ok, I’ll do it today”

He proceeded to ask the nurse to get the necessary tools and while waiting, a female beside my cubicle was practically “moaning” away as she was in pain. I asked the doc what’s she’s doing and he said scaling. She scared the hell out of me as I wonder if she’s doing extraction!

There was no drilling involved for me as it was a simple extraction. The injection of anesthesia was slightly painful (perhaps my pain threshold has increased due to the weekly facial extraction) Haha! Lots of pressure could be felt when he was pulling the tooth out but I didn’t even realized that it was out until he told me. Within 30 mins, both tooth (upper and lower left) was out, area cleaned and stitched.

It was a pretty good experience after all especially when the doctor and nurse are friendly and nice. He even called last night to make sure that everything was fine and answered my queries. Thumbs up for NDC! Oh, I won’t hesitate to remove my 2 other wisdom tooth too when necessary ;p

Quick updates

- Sis left for London on Wednesday. Surprisingly, she didn’t cry! Haha neither did I. Perhaps there were too many people around that kept her busy talking too. Anyway hope that she’ll get used to living there. Can’t wait to visit her there soon!

- Got back my results! Kindda disappointed with it though as I’ve spent 2 weeks studying for it. 2 Distinctions and 1 Credit. Was hoping to get high distinction for CB… but well… will try harder for the coming semester!

The End is a Start of a New Beginning!

Finally, the 1st semester exams are over! Headed over to Grandma’s place after the last paper for Sister’s farewell dinner as she is heading to London for study + work for 3 whole years!!! What will I do without my bitching partner/ wardrobe/makeup sharer?! :(

New work, new office, new colleagues…

2 weeks before I start my new job, I spoke to Ann and learnt that she was really unhappy with the new job. She even said that she regretted the decision to quit. Seriously, I was affected by what she said and kept having negative thoughts. However, I told myself that working in a new environment is never easy, therefore I shouldn’t make any verdict before experiencing it myself.

Being a new team all together, there were a lot of stuffs that we do not know and there were many backlogs to clear. Let’s see how it goes after my 3 months probation…

I've been like getting 5 hours of sleep per day since Monday and though the weekend is here, I’ll be so tied with our marketing project to have a good rest.

Sunday will be a long day @ the CC to finish up the project…

I know I’m loved when:

- She (Sis) went down to Chinatown to buy Lim Chee Guan’s ba kwa

- She (Mummy) cooked chicken slices with ginger

- He (Daddy) waited till 8.30pm to buy my favourite char siew pau from Crystal Jade.

All these when I mentioned that I FEEL like eating it… keke

*blush* I heart my Family!

Yes!!! I’ve finally resigned!

Handed the letter to “white shark” together with Ann and she asked if it’s really “unworkable’” there. How I feel like saying a straight YES to her face. Anyway, colleagues said their congrats and well wishes to us. A couple of my auditors mentioned that it’s a pity as I was beginning to build a rapport with them and they think that I’m a good scheduler. At that moment I felt really appreciated unlike the management who thinks otherwise as they showed no signs of intention to retain us. Nevertheless, I continued to clear my on handwork, as I did not want to give the impression that I’m doing slipshod jobs right after handing in the letter.

7 resignations letters in a month… do they realize what’s wrong and why is this happening… As of date, I think they’re still unaware, as no replacement of schedulers has been gotten yet...

Nice People

I’m glad that I’m surrounded by some nice and sweet classmates.

The gal who:
- printed chapters of notes for me upon knowing that I can’t do so in the office.
- bought Chewy Junior for me when I casually asked if the stall is near her office.

The couple who:
- assisted in our group project.
- drove us to their home so that we can finish our project with the internet connection.
- cooked dinner while we rushed on our project.
- offered to have a class gathering BBQ at their condo.

: )

( - ) Negative Updates...

There’s not much positive stuffs happening around me therefore the lack of update. Rants below:

-Work SUCKS BIG time! Can’t wait for the day to come when I’ll throw the resignation letter in their face ;p
- School will soon be packed with projects and tests . It certainly doesn’t help to have a super kiasu/straight As/negative thinking classmate in my group. But, maybe her kiasuism will be a good influence to me?!?
- GSS is here but my bank accounts forbids me to drought it further.

Meeting the gals this Wed!! Cant wait to gorge and rant!

I can live without chilli!!

Wow, it has been 2 weeks since I last touched those red hot stuff. My beautician told me to keep them away from my plate to “test” if chillies are affecting my bad complexion. Though I’m not very sure if it's helping, it seems like my complexion are “seeing some light at the end of the tunnel” keke. Fingers crossed!!!

School has officially started last week - 3 modules for this term. For the 1st time in my entire life, I enjoyed my lesson, 1 particular module that is – Consumer Behaviour. The lecturer rocks!!! He’s so interesting and despite ending the lessons slightly later after10pm, I don’t have the “stop talking and end the lesson” feeling. Respect. Unfortunately, we do have 1 uninteresting lecturer for organisational development :(

Class of 29 pax and lets hope that they’ll be a fun bunch of people to have fun + mugging our books together ;p

The Phantom is Back!

Despite watching it in London back in 2004, I knew I had to get the tickets when adverts splashed across the newspaper in around Oct last year. Using Mummy’s DBS card, we got the supposedly last show - 15th Apr during the priority booking period. I was so excited with the fact that we got Cat 1, middle seats + “last show” tickets. Who knows.... Due to GOOD response, the show was extended to 20th May!!! Anyway, when we bought the tickets last year, Apr seemed like a long time from then. However, time passed by fairly quickly and soon I found myself reminding my always the busy Sis on our “date”.

As her Bday was the next day, the plan was to treat her something nice. Her choice – Areins @ City Hall. Well...she claims that the food did not taste as nice as before, but luckily the apple pie dessert saved the day.

After dinner, we walked to the Esplanade for the much anticipated sold out show. Anyway I suck in writing, therefore, here’s how I’ll describe the show = good seats (smack in the middle column, row P), grand setting, great voice, live band, the Phanthom = definitely worth $135.00!

What’s missing was the courage to stand up to give them a standing ovation. Blame the barang barang on my hand (shawl & clutch)

How are you?

Have you ever had a time when a friend, ex-classmate, ex- teacher etc comes into you mind suddenly and you wonder how’s he/she doing now? Are they married? How’s their working life? Or simply, if they’re doing fine....

Well, I do have a few in mind and perhaps someday, somewhere, I’ll bump into them in this small city. And when the time comes, I’ll give a sincere smile and acknowledge their presence because they’re those who have crossed my mind.

Cupcakes gifts

Ordered 3 boxes cupcakes for a friend who has been real nice to help buy some apparels with huge discount! So far, Sis and I have saved about $250 in all.

However, I was quite disappointed on how small the cupcakes were in real. Anyway, the measurements were stated on the price list, just that I did not really bother about it when ordered. Hope they like these pretty cupcakes!!

Korean Food - craving satisfied

Mummy decided that since I was the one who has craving for (Crystal Jade) Korean food, I should be the one who foot the bill. Okieee…. What more can I say…

We ordered ala carte dishes this time and I think it was too much for us 3 ladies to finish it. Nevertheless I still went ahead to order one bowl of white rice to “go” with the kimchi (to Mummy’s dismay)!! Hahaha

I’ll let the pics to the talking...

. my fav kimchi . seafood pancake . beef .
. bibimbap . saba fish . free side dishes .

Metamorphosis Dinner & Dance - 23 March

It's lucky that I've got a new dress at home, which fits the theme for this year D&D - Metamorphosis.

Mummy did some stitching to the front which made feel more comfortable wearing it coz without it, it was way too revealing even with the help of Hollywood secret’s tape.

We were given time off at 3.30pm to prepare for the dinner. Though there were many discussions on whether I should head to the professionals to do my hair and makeup, I ended up doing it on my own (with Mummy's turquoise/gold clip & Sis's loose powder + eyeshadow).

Journey there was silly - I ended walking from Lucky Plaza to Meritus Mandarin. Upon reaching, the photographer got me, Ghaya and her cousin to take a group photo (with my shawl on)... I thought to myself "aiyah wasted lah... my dress so nice, covered by the shawl leh". Haha, after which we went to to have our Metamorphoto taken (smth like a professional photo-shoot with backdrop) and a butterfly crystal tattoo! While mingling around, the photographer came and requested to take a solo picture of me as he thinks the dress fits the theme and it’s colorful *blush*

The food served was not very nice and even though the special guest was really PCK, it's not that entertaining as they incorporate the "story" of us being bought over by the new company in their skit. Oh and there's this best dressed award - there were 3 couples who wore really costume (think Victorian dress, green costume which looks like a broccoli and a butterfly like dress) and 4 other individuals who participated... But I was not called up leh.... Haha, not that I'm thicked skin but I think my dress is really nicer + fits the theme more :p (even my colleagues said so).

Won a $100 Tangs voucher which was considered really lucky as there were about 500 plus people around that night ; ) One regret for the night was that I did not stay on for photo taking with the man - Pua Chu Kang aka Gurmit Singh : (

Waiting for "Freedom"

I can't wait for April to come coz that will be my study break month before I go full force starting May for my official BCom studies!

But before that, I'll need to conquer my F&B operations and Biz Accounting, which will be held next Thur and Sat. Speaking of which, I've not started revising for it though plans have been made to go to the library on Sat to do research for the F&B operations. Will my balance sheet balance? I'm keeping my fingers cross…

Oh yah... and good news!!! My most feared subject - Biz Statistics = A+, Marketing Management = B ; )

For today's D&D, I've been refraining from a lot of food, which is a real torture since this is the time of the month that my cravings are like crazy. I can’t wait to get my hands on nasi briyani, muruku, Superdog, ramen and korean food!!!!!

Care

Daddy went for another operation yesterday @ SGH. Plans to visit him was cancelled again as he told Mummy that Sis and I need not go since he's fine already.

Anyway, he was out from the intensive ward today and transferred to a private ward. Perhaps, it's PMS @ work, which led me to being emotional, I dropped him an SMS asking if he's fine. He replied he's fine and that Mummy is with him. Replied him with "Okie, see you at home tmr"

I hope his wound is not hurting anymore and that he's really feeling fine : )

Crude - I'm not...

Okie, I think the following conversation is quite crude but funny in a way too:
I was drinking strawberry yogurt when 1 Ops Manager saw it. He's one who's always crapping with us and we'll always buy tea break for him.

he: what're you drinking?
me: there's none for you...
he; where did you get that from?
janice: from the toilet
he: oh, then it must be yellow color
me: no.... it's pink
he: ......too stunned for words
janice: laughing away

It was a few seconds later then I realized what's wrong (drink from toilet, and pink in color = something quite gross)

me: shit!!! I don’t mean that...

Told him that I'm too embarrassed to face him and that I don’t mean it that way.

he: I’ve never linked it to anything. It's you gals who have the crooked mind.

. the PINK drink .

I know our conversation is sooo crappy and has no added value... :p

Lunar New Year 07 (zhu ni xing nian kuai le)

Nothing much to write about this CNY despite having 1 week of "holiday" as I had to revise for my bridging exam. The difference between this year's CNY was that we did not have steamboat for both reunion and the 2nd day as Mum thinks its too tiring to do so. Therefore, we broke the tradition this year :(

Anyway, we catered in food on the 2nd day, which was pretty good. And it's true what when you get older, CNY is more like giving oneself a break and gorge in those CNY lunches, dinner, lo hei and lots of snacks ; )

Don't Play Play ah...

Got back my bridging results:
Biz Law - C
Tourism Sys - B

Heard that someone got A+ for Biz law and maybe Tourism sys too!! Best!
Hopefully this pressure from the classmates will spur me to do better during the next 1.5 years.

Anyway Biz Statistics on last Friday was manageable, marketing management on Sun was okie, hopefully can get a B as the tips the lecturer gave was not very accurate ( - . - )

Its time for D&D!

Dinner & Dance is in March. Theme is Metamorphosis.
I do have a dress, which fits the theme but its super low cut. Anyway, will make a decision when the time is nearing.

Teasers (yellow boots and mole) on the special guest appearance makes it seems like it'll be

If it is, I bet it'll be damn entertaining.

Scarley, its his contractor (the round round guy)... :p

Ooo the round round guy is in our office now and he just spoke to me: Mamm, do you have scotch tape?? hahaha anyway, I'm just crapping...

How Suay...

Forgetting that I've already had a new bottle of Marmite back home. I bought another bottle of it last Thursday.

Though I managed to exchange it for the Jap salad sauce @ NTUC (even got the $0.10 difference), the bottle slipped out of the plastic bag and broke into pieces when I stepped out of NTUC.

So there goes my Marmite…if only I did not bring it for an exchange;
My salad sauce…if only I had held onto the bag properly;
My $3.70…if only I had checked 1st before buying the 2nd bottle of Marmite.

BKK Trip (21st-22nd Dec 06)

Ok, super duper late post....

The long awaited trip to BKK began on 21st Dec. Departing with Tiger Airways @ the Budget Terminal was an experience. You'll only see 1 restaurant - HANS at the terminal. However, after going through the departure gates, you'll find Polar, Genki Sushi, O'Briens, Killiney. As Tiger Airways do not allocate seats before hand, it's a 1st come 1st serve basis. Typical Singaporeans rushed in when the boarding gates open. We kept it cool and boarded the plane last, as we did not want stand in the queue for like 15 mins?

. boarding the plane in the traditional way .

1st day
- Check in
- Proceeded to Erawan Shrine (can't pray that day)
- Walked over to Central World
- Bought Naraya products & Mister Donut
- Went to Food Hall aka supermarket to rest and eat
- Bought 3 bottles of mini body spritz
- Went back to "hotel"
- Met up with Mummy's friend for seafood dinner. The journey took 1 hour plus *faintz* but the many dishes made up to the long journey.

2nd day
- Platinum Mall with Loiusa and others
- Shopped till I dropped (6 hrs)
- Getting a cab to drive us back was crazy as no taxi wants to take us due to our hotel location and some do not want to go by meter.
- Head back for dinner

As the Malaysians were also there this time round, it was like a family gathering (though we're not related to them). Dinner was 2 big round table filled with home cooked food everyday (tom yum goong, chicken, fish, vege, pork, salad, wine, fruits etc). With the good weather and good company, it was a heartwarming dinner in the open space. Plus, food was never ending there.

. bread sold along the streets (simple yet nice) . small you tiao .
. salad sauce . pad thai .

3rd day
- More shopping at MBK, Bonaza Mall
- Bought so much loots to satisfy my cravings of spending $$
- Went back for dinner again
- Went for a "tour" around BKK. The driver drove us around to have a look of the X'mas lighting of those shopping malls.
- Stopped at the Palace (where the very much respected King lives). With all the lights, the palace is practically "glowing" - Nice!!

. palace .

4th day
- Breakfast at Siam Paragon
- Love the Food Hall (imagine choc fondues, mini sashimi bar, salad bar + so much more in the Supermarket)

. choc fondue in the supermarket .

. nice boxes . foodcourt .

- Lunch was @ Fuji which serves Japanese food at quite low prices.
- Prayed @ Erawan Shrine
- Back for dinner

Siam Paragon - high end boutiques, restaurants with nice interior decoration, good-looking people). In short - a place for the atas

5th day
- Breakfast followed by packing up
- Met up with a chief monk and received blessing from him. However, I missed the chance of getting advises from him as he went for a short nap before I had the chance to speak to him. Next time, perhaps.
- Off the airport
- 9pm Home Sweet Home

p/s: More pics to be uploaded when I can access the external hard drive

It's Twins!

Mummy squealed with surprise when she crack 1 egg and discovered 2 yolks in it.

So there you've any it - double yolk for brekkie.

The Cannery

Visited The Cannery yesterday with Lx and her colleagues yesterday. Since it was V-day, it would be quite boring to go home after work, therefore to her surprise and delight, I gave her a 90% confirmation on going.

Dinner was a simple fare of fish and chips @ Fisherman's Wharf. Well, for the price ($6.50), there's not much to rant or rave about. Anyway, there was practically no crowd at The Cannery. After walking 1 round to check out the cool clubs there, we decided to have a drink at the Fashion Bar. Due to miscommunication, we did not get the 1-1 drink promo and so we paid $15 for a drink.

Next stop for our "sight seeing tour" was Mos, followed by Club Momo. Oh yah, we even popped by BarFly by telling them that we'll like to have a look. The PR officer was very friendly and even reminded us there'll be free Vodka for groups of 4 ladies. The place was so atas but we did not stay there for the free drinks.

Though, it took me quite some time to realize the change there, I'm super surprised by the major change @ Clark Quay and finally understand why SG would soon become a Tourism Hub!!!!

I suck at Math

Can I just rant again on how BAD I'm with Math!!!

I seriously have problems 'understanding' number. I listened and tried to absorb whatever the lecturer was saying, however upon trying out the questions, I just cannot relate to it…

*stress*

Friday, February 02, 2007

Ewww...

3rd bridging module is Business Statistics = MATHS!!!

Whoa hahaha...

"Your favorite subject" Sis said.

All I can wish for myself now is - Good Luck!

Turning Back

A decision to head back to my beautician was made on last Monday night.
I wont deny the fact the clinic had indeed helped to clear most of my oil clogs and now I've to concentrate on removing my marks (or so they say)

However, an average of $400 a month is simply was out of my budget and having spent about $2k - $2.5k over just 3 months, I decided that something else should be able to help. Unfortunately, my beautician made me realized that my forehead and chin are still clogged (so its not only just the marks that need help). So, I've decided to use back her product to help remove my marks and perhaps get another product to help minimize the clogging.

Whether a product contains chemicals is not really a factor now (think it nv really was). Seriously, majorities of the products in the market have always contained chemical. And when $$ is an issue, is it really a concern for me if the products works though it does contain chemical?? My answer would be No. Like organic food, botanical products etc, they're more for the rich or for one who is willing to part with the sum of $$.

Anyway, I'm sorry to say that my faith and patience did not last long and again all I can hope is for the best.

Exams!

Took half-day leave yesterday to prepare for the Biz Law bridging exam. Being bridging modules, there'll be no grades to it but I was quite unprepared therefore, went ahead with the leave and revised in the campus library for about 5 hrs.

I was flipping though the study guide, law books (from library) and was practically reading it only. Anyway, the 3 hours paper was quite stressful as the there was so many things write even for a 2 mark question and I had to make sure that my handwriting was legible :p

Tomorrow, there's still another paper that I’ve read and memorize it several times so it would not be as stressful. Can’t wait for Sunday to come whereby I’m planning for a nice breakfast, drama marathon, shopping, and dim sum and viewing the paintings @ Paragon by Vietnam's artist.

Tit for Tat

Someone whom I thought I've always worked along fairly well with, burnt the bridge this morning.

"Don't say till it's my bloody job..... you're the scheduler..... etc"

Fine! Tit for Tat - this post is to log this down as a reminder.

//edited

This is kindda freaky. The Yahoo! Astrology (which is in my favorite folders) website opened unknowingly. Surprised by it, I went ahead to check out my daily overview for today:

Quickie:
If someone is getting on your last nerve, today is the day to stop the madness.

Overview:
Fighting the natural course of events will just leave you exhausted. Save your energy for a better cause. In the meantime, choose to be amused by the situation. Cultivating a sense of detachment helps too.

Now, this is the reason why Yahoo! Astrology is in my favorite folder. Cos sometimes, it's just so true!

Baker; I'm Not

Finally went to Ghaya's new house last Friday and brought along my gingerbread dough to bake! Dinner was Pizza Hut delivery and we each had 3 large slices of pizza and 2 chicken wings (yummy). After the filling my stomach, I wasted no time to start baking. In the beginning, Ghaya was the one kneading the ready to bake dough while I watched by the side. However, soon after, I had to take over as she's was caught on the line.

Now, I can truly say that I'm so not cut to bake. It was difficult to roll the dough to the same thickness/thinness and it was stuffy standing next to the oven.

The 1st batch - 1 tray was slightly burnt at the bottom, while the other tray was nice on top but unbaked at the bottom.

2nd batch - burnt!

3rd batch - totally burnt, with smoke coming out from the oven!

That was it! We decided not to bake the last batch and threw away those baked ones too. Don’t think I'll ever wanna try baking again in the near future (-.-")

Seriously, I didn’t expect to win it (though I thought I would last year, hahaha). Anyway I was standing in the front taking pictures of the past 4 years winners; waiting for this year's winner to be called.

"And this year’s winner is… Geraldine" announced the VP.

Whoa hahaha….. Quickly passed the camera to Ghaya and went forward to receive the plaque (which looks the nicest among all) and $50 Cold Storage vouchers.

Most popular staff of the year = joke of the day??? Mummy even asked if I bribed my colleagues (-.-") Ironically, when I sent a SMS to Sis, I typed worse instead of most. What was I thinking??!! keke

Back to School

School started last Friday with Business Law, which was completed within 20 contact hours. Having attended a full class on Sunday, followed by 4 hours of lecture on Monday and Tuesday, I was practically a walking zombie while walking back home yesterday (pun intended). However, despite the tiredness, I truly feel that time is spent more wisely now as compare to previously whereby after work, I’ll be back home having dinner followed by drama marathon then sweet dreams, Saturdays would be spent slacking at home etc.

Being it a crash course, there's not a single minute for me to stone or stare in blank space, as we'll have to scribble down notes all the way. As for classmates, can’t really comment on them, as now it’s only the bridging modules and there won't be many interactions with the rest.

$20k (no small sum) + that sentence = work hard!!!

Some random thoughts...

Now, when I face a problem in work, I wonder if it's because of my incompetence or that certain things are simply not within my control?

Why do I feel so "empty" after reading Tuesdays with Morrie?

I know questions are asked out of concern. But having answering the same questions for about 10 times, my replies get shorter as I am "tired".

It's funny that all of a sudden, people seem to be concerned about my love life.

"Missing in Action"

Home PC is down, thus the lack of updates. Anyway the drama serials on SCV are keeping me "busy" too (drama marathons from 7pm - 10pm) @.@

School's starting this Friday, 3 weekends would be burnt attending full day lessons *stress*

Quick note on what to update when my PC is up:
BKK Trip
Countdown to 2007
It's a New Year

Till then.....

How much to give?

Its was the 2nd time I saw the old lady selling misc. stuffs at the underpass towards Shaw Orchard when I decided to do a good deed since Xmas was nearing and pay day was 2 days after. Never did I expect to experience this shocking incident:

I took out a $1 coin ASSUMING a packet of tissue wouldn't cost me more than that. After putting the coin on her palm, I took the pack of tissue while she asked what I want to buy. Upon seeing the coin and the tissue, she said " $2".

"Huh?" I said
"Economy no good" was the reply I got.

Knowing that I had a $2 note in my wallet, I took it out, pass it to her and also took back my coin. All these while, I was in "shock" and only recovered 2 min later which led me thinking; $2 for a packet of tissue??!!!! It's certainly not that I'm unwilling to part with the money, but she gave me the feeling that she was taking people's small generosity for granted.

Doesn’t she know that the "market rate" with street peddlers is $1 - $2 for 3 packets of tissue? At times, I'll buy and take only one packet of tissue because I don’t really need the tissue paper but I sincerely want to help. And since they’re not beggars, I think it'll be offensive to pass them only the money and not buying.

Wouldn’t it be sad if one day, the society has to think "how much is then enough" before doing a good deed?

p/s: Ironically, I spent the $2 @ Watson's buying 32 packets of tissue that day.

Walk your (my) own path

Having put off my studies for almost 2 years, a decision has to be made soon.

But I’m so afraid that I’ll make a wrong choice.

Since I do not want to go into a business course, I hope that hospitality & tourism + marketing is a route that I can walk into in the long term.

Got to push off those negative comments that I’ve read about earning a degree in only 1.5 years etc...

May the force be with me.

Mee crazy

Yup yup. I realized that I’ve been having noodles almost everyday last week.

I’m having cravings for pasta at the moment but it’s neither tomato nor cream base kind. Simply love my Sis’s mentaiko pasta to bits!!!! I can have 2 servings for dinner and will still crave for it the next day. Sis and Mummy were shocked to know that I enjoy it so much as I’ve always liked tomato based spaghetti. Haha, but now, nothing beats to looking forward to the end of the day and rushing back home where Sis will "whip" out this fuss-free meal.

As it is quite expensive and difficult to get mentaiko (usually from Istean), the next option for pasta would be canned tuna + spag. So far, I’ve only tried the tuna with olive oil + spag. It tastes all right but I prefer the chilled version.

Oooooo just saw this on the Ayam’s webby:

Unveiling a brand new introduction from Ayam Brand –the Tomato Sauce range.
Available within the range are 3 variants, tempting you with each distinctive taste of its own:Cheese with Tuna, Spicy, Tomato Garlic
This versatile sauce can be used on it’s own on pasta, noodles and rice, or can be added to your cooked dishes as sauce base. Just use your imagination with this sauce and you whip up dishes you may never think you could in just a few minutes

Haha, can't wait to go grocery shopping!!!!
