Impromptu Session with the Gals

Met up with Lx for an high tea (Imperial Treasure) cum shopping session on Saturday. It had been a long time since we last met due to her exams, therefore there was lots of catching up. After filling out stomachs, we headed to Suntec City as she wanted to check out the PC show.

It was such a coincidence that Hr was working part time at a book fair @ Suntec. So we popped by to say hi and “caught” her watching the Chinese educational show opposite her booth instead of working.. haha. We chatted for awhile before leaving for shopping at Marina Square as we’ll be meeting her for dinner after her work @ 8pm.

Dinner was at Country Manna's, after which Lx treated us to dessert at Swensens.. *yumz* Though it was an impromptu meet up, it was a really fun “gossip” session (esp when the last time we met up with Hr was 4 mths ago…)

Fine Dining @ Garibaldi

To make use of the UOB - 1-1 dining delight, I treated Mummy to Garibaldi. At first, I made a booking for buffet at Grand Copthrone Waterfront hotel, but after hearing Sis raved about Garibaldi, we changed our decision.

Though the price would cost 2.5x more, I though it was a great opportunityto try out Italian fine dining. So, I took my polling day leave in lieu on Monday (29th May), dressed up and went for it.

Upon reaching, the staff told us to get comfortable and after our order was taken, we were served with warm crispy focaccia bread to be dipped in olive oil. They waiter refilled the bread automatically when he sees that one finishes the bread. Haha, Mummy loved the bread!!! I had a glass of white wine while Mummy had the red wine upon recommendation by the staff. We had the gourmet menu which consist of the following:

GOURMET MENU
. Crab Salad with Avocado, Cherry Tomatoes and Orange & Saffron Sauce .
. Pan-roasted Goose Liver with Spicy Apricot Chutney, Endives & Balsamic Vinegar .
. Angel Hair Pasta with Lobster, Sweet Peas and Tomato Sauce .
. Beef Tenderloin with Porcini Mushrooms .
. Molten Lava Chocolate Cake with Hazelnut Icecream and Coconut Sauce .
. Coffee or Tea .
Though the portions of the dishes were of “tasters”, we were already full after the beef tenderloin. However, the molten lava chocolate cake was not to be missed!!! Paired with the hazelnut ice cream, it was simply divine… *ahhhh*

I’m gald that Mummy and I enjoyed the delicious lunch and it was truly a nice fine dining experience :-)

Out of Control

There are many things in my job which can occur that are not within my control.

I'm hating it as I can only pray that "chuan dao qiao tou zi ran zi" and everything goes well from there.

I dont like it when I have to deal with office politics and put on a mask at times.

I'm having a slight headache now as I'm been stressing out since I started work this morning.

Therefore, here I'm writing this post to "rest" for awhile.

p/s: I still have outstanding post on my lunch @ Garibaldi and Saturday Girl's Day Out, till then...

Dragon Boat Festival aka Duan Wu Jie

Mummy decided to try her hands on doing rice dumplings for this year’s Dragon Boat Festival. Though today is the official Duan Wu Jie, she started her preparation last Thursday and the wrapping was done on Friday. The amount of time and effort spent resulted on tasty dumplings which tasted almost the same which her friend did.

Of course, there’s still room for improvement, but being the 1st time doing it, we gave Mummy positive comments. keke. She did the second batch yesterday, this time tastier but smaller (it’s like half the size of a normal dumpling) :p I brought one each to my colleagues and I’m glad that they like it too. Might be giving Ghaya another one as she likes dumplings a lot… keke

Up next on the try out menu: Butter cake!!! *slurp*

I want a bowl of fishball noodle!

I'm so craving for a bowl of fishball noodles now... Gonna grab one packet with extra vinegar after my FOC ear candling session later. Can't wait! *slurp*
It's not helping that the pic which was taken from here has other food which looks sooo delicious....

Just not my taste

After seeing many online posts raving about peanut butter + marmite spread on bread, I decided to be an "extra" and bought a bottle of marmite too.

Told Mummy to spread a thin layer of marmite as I'm not sure if I'll like it. And as predicted by Sis and Mummy, it was definitely not my taste of liking. The marmite was salty and together with the peanut butter, it was sure an acquired taste (0.O)

Guess we should just stick to marmite in porridge or soups from now...

Pasta Mania Buffet @ CPF Building

Went for Pasta Mania ala carte buffet mania @ CPF building with my colleagues today. I made a reservation for 6.30 but we reached there only at 7pm. Luckily, they saved the table for us.

. poster 1 . garlic bread and mushroom soup . beef bolognese . chicken wrap .
. marinara . pork stew . stuffed squid rings . crispy beancurd/saba fish/dory fish/lime chicken .
. shrimp toast . banana dessert pizza . poster 2 .
not in pic: bacon parcel, lemon grass drink

The pizzas, wraps, salad, soup, brownie were on the buffet table while the pastas and side dishes were cooked when ordered. That was rather nice as the pasta was steamy hot when arrived and like their beef bolognese. The side dishes were nothing to shout about as most were deep fried food, however the banana chocolate pizza was nice for dessert.

For a price of $12 nett, it was certainly value for money even if you head there for the few choices of pasta only. Might be going there on the 2nd June again with my poly friends....

Eruptions

Mount Merapi erupted, so did the pimples on my left cheek. *Sigh* Thankfully, my beautician helped do the extraction FOC AGAIN when I popped by yesterday evening.

We seriously don't know what caused the sudden breakout as I've been sleeping early, drinking lots of water this week, watching over my diet etc..... She mentioned that it's infection and she actually predict it to happen last year, and it's consider "late" that it happened now *gasp*

I believe my complexion will be cleared like how it used to be. I'll just give myself some more time...

I believe, therefore it will!

update - 17:00 hrs
Someone is getting on my nerves!!!!!

- He finished audit early and knock off without coming back to the company. And yet can complain that they dont have enough days back in office to do their paperwork.
- Gives stupid comments like "auditors have to look for dates if they were to die" due to their pack schedules.
- Tell me to to change the auditors which I've paired him up with as he dont wish to work with the other auditor.

Oh pleasee.... that's so unprofessional and silly of him to put it in email to me (I could simply forward to the managament and seek their advice). I'll just rant it on my blog for now till the day when I really can't take it and it'll be in to the small room with the manager to give my feedback! *hmph*

Crustless Quiche - A Success?

So I woke up @ 8.30am on Sunday to do my crustless quiche. But Mummy asked me to have my breakfast 1st which led me to thinking if she doesn't want me to do the quiche for fear that I'll mess up the kitchen. After Sis woke up and we had our breakfast, I started mixing the eggs, ap flour etc while Sis placed the ham and cheese in each mini pan and Mummy pre-heat the oven.

After 30 mins of baking, the quiche were ready!!!! However, I don't know why it looks so puffed up at the top (like muffins)
Surprise surprise, the quiche are edible. haha Not very very nice, but still acceptable for a novice like me (us)..

. mix . out from oven .
. crustless quiche . fillings .

Mummy and I are thinking of getting a cake mixer during the GGS. So baking every weekend?? keke

Saturday with Sis

I have a mental block on writing today. Therefore, I’ll do this post in point form:

- Went to Standard Chartered to open e-saver account
- Plan to have lunch @ Chin Chin was ruined due to the rain
- Had light lunch @ Thos S.B. Raffles, shared the Thos S.B pie and earl grey tea
- Walked to Chin Chin but saw Hock Lam Beef noodle
- Had the kway tiao beef while Sis had the mix soup
- Walked to Bugis Village
- Bought 6 pairs of earrings for $10
- Ate banana and chocolate pancake and oolong tea
- Bought biscuits and papadam
- Went to Burlington Sq to check if they bring in my Korean sweet, thank god they do!
- Took the wrong bus and ended up @ Millennia Walk
- Took free shuttle bus to City Hall MRT
- Bought mozerella cheese and honey baked ham for my quiche on Sunday

. Thos S.B. Raffles . early grey tea . Thos S.B pie .
. dry kway tiao beef . mix soup . banana and chocolate pancake .

Mother's Day Lunch

We (actually was Sis) treated Mummy to Wak Lok @ Carlton for dim sum lunch on Fridy. Nothing special there but we ordered too many dishes till we’ll have to pack the ½ peking duck back home.

- lotus rice
- ½ peking duck
- steamed carrot cake
- chicken feet
- har kow
- char siew pineapple bun
- steamed chive dumplings
- beef balls

. wah lok . char siew pineapple bun .
. dishes . peking duck .

After lunch, we shopped around Raffles City for awhile before settling down at Coffee Club for some tea/coffee as I’ve the $25 voucher from M1. Nothing special too, just a simple day out with Mummy.

Random from the office

My colleague told me that my previous reporting officer told her that I'm a smart girl and I learnt things fast when I was working under him. Though its a compliment, I felt rather weird on why he'll talk to her about me as I'm now under another RO.
He also mentioned that he'll "protect" me from any office politics (ongoing thing here) like before...
I'll try my best to continue working well with his team like before as the devil in me used to have a bad thought of not helping him generate letters etc anymore since I'm no longer under him...

Bonding Session @ Dome

Sis and I had a bonding session on Wednesday night after my trip to Suntec and her meeting at the CC. Actually the plan was to have dinner @ the newly opened HK Café at Novena but as predicted, her meeting ended late at 8.30pm which was the time I reached Bishan, therefore we changed the venue to Bishan CC’s Dome instead.

. menus.
. carbonara . cheese crackers with mashed potatoes . chicken & mushroom tart .

It had been quite some time since we chatted (abt a week) since I was already in bed or getting ready for bed when she reached home for the past week. As usual, I ranted about my work and people who’s crossed my path, my encounter with different “smell” on the train, stupid jokes of mine etc…

Based on my “I want to eat @” list, we’ll sure have many choices for our next bonding session. Haha…

"Just JJ" World Tour

I'm thinking of watching "Just JJ" World Tour (Singapore) 2006.
But the best seat (Category 1) is $128. And the category 4 tickets ($88) has only single seats available. Category 5 of $68 is affordable but what I'll see on stage would be a miniature JJ Lin and will have to rely on the big side screens.
Another concern is to look for someone to accompany me. Haiz...

Update (12/5/06): $130 for a 2 hour concert is quite costly. $70 for the last 7 row seats does not sound like we’ll be able to enjoy the concert. Final decision made after a 1 hour plus discussion with Lx was not to go… :(

Freelance

Yesterday after work, I went to Suntec as my previous customer had some problems with his computer and he's willing to pay me to go down and have a look.

The boss knew how much I charged as I've been to his other branch just last week, and they too paid me even though I wanted to assist through the phone. The manager then asked if I was busy and cannot go down, I told her that if I can solve it through the phone, they can save the $$. She then said "I'll rather you come down as I really don't know how to meddle with PCs"

The boss don't even mind giving me my transport fees if they face the problem again today as the computer was ironically fine yesterday. That's what I call a true professional businessman!!! Which is why I'll be willing to drop by if I happen to be around that area to see if they've any issues.

To think that some others would want to save that minimal charge fee and stop using the software entirely..... duh

A Visit to NUH

We went to NUH after work today as Rajes was admitted to hospital for severe headache. Wanted to get a hamper at first but decided to get flowers, fruits, snacks from NTUC instead.

Like many, I don’t like the feeling of going to hospitals. It’s uncomfortable seeing the sick/elderly lying on their beds and thinking of the pain they’re going through. As we went around dinner time, the ward smelt of food instead of medicines. But still, I don’t like it. Anyway the doctor suspects that she might have contracted dengue fever and she’ll be discharged only at the end of next week. Hope she gets well soon!!!

. flowers in the office .

A Pancake Flop

Woke up at 8am this morning despite having 3 hour of sleep only to prepare my long- anticipated pancakes. I bought Bisquick as I can use them for my next "project" - crustless quiche instead of the pre-mixed pancakes. I knew it was a wrong choice when I smelt the mixture of eggs, Bisquick and milk. It smelt so "floury"... We did 4 pancakes and luckily there's steamed paus for breakfast backup. The pancakes did not taste nice and I think this will be my last time doing pancakes with all purpose flour. Hopefully, the quiche will turn out well... :p

HK Cafe and KTV @ the East

I went to the temple alone today to return my blessings as I promised to do so if I were to pass my driving test.

After which, I walked aimlessly @ Toa Payoh central till 2.15pm as I wanted to get the Tiong Bahru pau which opened only at that time. I then went to NTUC to get Bisquick all purpose flour and maple syrup as I wanted to do pancakes for tomorrow’s breakfast
After buying the long awaited paus, I went home to have my late lunch or rather tea time of 2 paus, surfed the net and had a nap @ 5.30 as I’ll be meeting Janice and her friends for dinner around 8pm.

Janice picked me up @ 8pm and we headed to Hong Kong Café @ east coast. Her air stewardess friend – Lynn was very very approachable and kept us entertained during the journey with her stories of being an airline crew.

I ordered the stir fried beef hor fun and ice milk tea float. The hor fun was super salty which I ate only mouthfuls while I enjoyed the milk tea float. After dinner, Lynn suggested to go KTV. Since it was still early, we went to Marine Parade K-Box to hit the notes...
We sang till 2am before Janice sent us all home. Poor her, reached home only at 3.30am!!

Despite being ready for bed at 3.30am, I only managed to fall asleep around 4.45 am - guessed it might be the milk tea (-.-)

I...

have a break-out on my left cheek and I'm feeling so inferior :(

get upset/angry when I "sense" people looking at my face :(

am hesitating on whether I should go to my ex-customer's place or Monday for fear that they'll ask me what happened :(

need to sleep early and avoid soy products as advised by my beautician :(

wonder when this will be through.... :(

Cloths and Needles @ Chinatown

After the potluck party on Sat, I meet Mummy and Sis @ Chinatown as Sis wanted to get some ribbons. It’s my 1st time to People’s Park Complex after the renovation. I’m amazed by the big change to there now. There’re many shops selling clothes imported from HK and Taiwan and of course those shops selling bolts of cloths/materials/buttons etc.

We spent about 2 hours there and I bought a polka dot material for Mummy to do me a dress. I’m so excited as I’ve been pestering for a long time to help me do one since she did 2 tube dresses for Sis previously. Keke. Though I’ve not thought of what kindda dress I want, Mummy suggested a simple tube. Well, I guess I’ll just leave it to my “designer” then.. haha

. belt & earrings . ribbons and laces . cloths for my dress .

After our mini shopping @ People’s Park, we had Chinese dessert of walnut cream and mango with sago ice as Sis wanted to try Singapore’s standard of walnut cream. After her recent trip to HK, she mentioned that the walnut cream there is fantastic therefore she’s still trying to find one in Sg which is comparable to HK.

Wanted to try the pies at Thos S.B. Raffles but it was sold out so we decided to settle our dinner @ Miss Clarity Café. I was too full from the party while Mummy and Sis had the following:

. menu . chicken ballotine. chicken bake rice

Potluck Party organized by ME!

Ok, other than a few hiccups we (Ghaya and I) faced in the beginning of the party, I’m glad to say the party turned out to be quite successful.

Everyone turned up with “flowers” in their attire other than Shirlyn (host) who used her plastic sunflower found at her home for the theme. Though we did not play any games, Shirlyn’s wedding video kept us entertained. The foods prepared by individuals were delicious!!! I like Ann’s sambal stingray. *slurp* Well, I did not cook mine, Mummy helped me prepare the ngo hiang the day before and pan fried it for me before I left in the morning. keke

. ngo hiang . vegetables . sambal stingray .
. curry chicken . fried rice . sushi .
. chicken wings . aga aga/almond logan/watermelon . chocolate royal .
(
not in pic: garlic bread, calabee potato chip, more fruits, mango pudding)

After having the food and dessert, it’s time for the early birthday celebration for Ying wei and Rajes. We took out the cake from the kitchen and sang the birthday song and they were really surprised! After having the cake, at about 3pm, we left Shirlyn’s house and I proceeded to Chinatown to meet Mummy and Sis.

It’s actually fun to have such parties as everyone brings a dish and the host need not prepare the food. Though we used Shirlyn’s house for the party, I’m glad that Ghaya was around to help me (the organizer) get things right. It’s my first time organizing such parties and I’m proud to say that it went pretty fine and I hope they had a good time. If not for me being so paranoid to have my house “dirtied”, I’ll surely open up my ouse for parties, but but but… I guess I’ve to think through it carefully 1st before sending out any invitations… keke

Dinner @ Crystal Jade Palace

As Crystal Jade Palace is still under renovation, they've temporary shifted down to the 2nd level and occupy Hui Cui which sells Shanghainese food.

. entrance . wallpaper . roast pork .
. pan fried fish . river shrimp sautéed with a salted duck egg yolk sauce . claypot chicken with garlic .
. local spinach with assorted eggs . gui ling gao . deep fried mango ice cream .

As usual, we ordered the roast pork pan fried fish which tasted still as good. This time we tried something new - river shrimp sautéed with a salted duck egg yolk sauce. It was very nice but it’ll be better to stop after taking one shrimp as it's actually quite rich in taste. Also ordered a claypot chicken with garlic which was ok and local spinach with assorted eggs which was incomparable to what we had at Nan Bei Imperial Treasure. It tasted weird and we’ll definitely not order that in future. Sis wanted to try their walnut cream for dessert; however they did not have it today. Daddy had the gui ling gao as usual and I tried their deep fried mango ice cream which was tasted normal.

Ok, I know this is a boring post… Check out tomorrow’s exciting potluck party update.

Wardrobe Malfunction

You don’t hear it only on Hollywood stars. It happened to yours truly on this rainy morning.

I was wearing a dress with a zip by the left and I actually forgot to zip it up! I was informed by a very very kind soul only when I reached the MRT station.

Having traveled from my house blk to the bus stop to boarding the bus, not a single person told me. Not even a stupid biatch who obviously would have noticed it as I was standing in a position, which she couldn’t have missed seeing it. And on the bus, I was standing and holding on the pole with my left hand. Gosh, I wonder how many people on the bus have seen it. Luckily, I wore a black tube, which was rather long inside my dress, else I cannot imagine the amount of flesh I'll expose in an early morning (-.-")

Annual Dinner and Dance @ Swissotel

Last night's D & D was pretty fun I should say. However, the people at our table were not very enthusiastic when playing some games but we still won 2 of the table games though. Keke.

I, so called "volunteered" to participate in the Ms Glamour section as A did not want to though everyone in our table voted for her. I was their second choice, not that it matters as it’s all for the sake of having fun. Gosh, I think I embarrassed myself when we (S and I ) were told to dance to the music. And of course, S was great!!! I was like going around tables asking them for the roses which was a decorative piece on each table. The MC then said “eh eh, why are you asking flowers from people” *digs a hole and hides face* Anyway S, won obviously, she was hot!!! HahaI hope nobody remembers what I did for that “performance”.

I won the 17th prize for the lucky draw - $20 Takashimaya voucher (at least I won something yeah). Our new company buyer even added a grand draw which was a trip to Germany (HQ) for 2 individuals and I think it was a real surprise to everyone as it was really unexpected draw/prize.

Games and Ah Gua show (stand up comedian show for dirty jokes) added entertainment to the night. Though, there was really a dance after dinner, obviously nobody stayed behind it was a dinner (like past years) to everyone who attended.

Overall, I had fun dressing up for the event and taking tons of pictures with my colleagues, playing the table games etc. Hopefully, there’ll still be D & D for the next years to come and we’ll "party" again!!!

chinese dinner menu
. smoked fish and prawn salad combination .
. braised shark's fin soup with shredded abalone and crab meat .
. pan-fried scallops with assorted vegetable served in crispy basket.
. deep-fried crispy chicken with sweet walnuts and prawn crackers .
. stir-fried broccoli with sea cucumber and dried mushrooms.
. steam live grouper with crispy broad bean paste .
. deep-fried sesame seaweed roll stuffed with minced seafood .
. fried glutinous rice with assorted preserved meat .
. chilled green tea pudding with fresh milk.
. chinese tea .

Ulcer = Talk less

I've ulcer on my gums near my wisdom tooth and it's hurting me like crazy. However it might be a good thing as it prevents me from talking too much . I tend to be very direct at times in front for my colleagues when I'm not thinking in the same frequency as them. With so, I might offend them unknowingly.

Having said that, there were a few issues which my perceptions were not in sync with them yesterday. But I won't put in here as you'll never know who's reading it, of course my Sis and closer friends will sure hear me rant... keke

Bought six bottles of "Three Legs Colling Water" from NTUC to reduce the heatiness in my body. Heard from my colleague that drinking it will help the ulcer go away faster. Hope it works for me...

Dinner (I don't think so...)

Breakfast
3/4 red apple
2 slices of white bread with tuna

Lunch
Mixed vegetables rice (without rice) of tang hoon, bitter gourd, lemon chicken & minced pork

Tea break
Vegetable pau
1 mini cream puff
1 mini chocolate eclair
2 soon kueh
3/4 of mini Danish pastry
1 mini slice of fish fillet
*except for the vege pau which I bought, the rest of the tea break were leftovers from the company meeting.

Dinner
Looking at the stuffs I've ate above, I shouldn't even be thinking of having anything for dinner except fruits.

My weekly exercise has gone downhill.... It's been about 3 weeks since I last had my twice per week run. It's time to head the tracks!

It's Her Birthday!!!

Celebrated Sis's birthday @ Tony Roma's as Mummy had the $40 voucher from DBS.

. appetizer sampler . onion loaf . baked potato soup .
. St. Louis-Style Ribs (carolina honeys) . steak & fish fillet combo . apple crisp .

The appetizer sampler was served with carolina honeys wings, potato skins, mozzarella sticks and three dipping sauces. The wings were a tad too sweet for our liking, but love the potato skin. Onion loaf was very oily but nice too. Soup and ribs taste delicious as before. However, the steak and fish fillet did not captured our taste buds. Actually I wanted to have the Skillet Cookie Sundae (giant chocolate chip baked in a cast iron skillet, topped with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge) for dessert *slurp*, but Sis said that it might be too sweet, therefore we ordered the apple crisp as decided by the B'day gal.

Oops, I did not prepare any present for Sis this year (wondered if I bought her anything last year too. keke). But being her little sister, I know that it's best and safer to get what she really wants. So past me your wish list, Sis!!!

Lebanese Food and Ben & Jerry's

Meet up with Janice and Yingwei after my driving revision today. We shopped @ Bugis for about an hour 1st and decided to proceed to Baladi for dinner at 6.30pm though I made the reservation for 7.30pm.

. 1st row - interior .
. chicken platter . beef platter . small pizzas .
. mint tea, mango/peach yogurt . menu . light .

We ordered the chicken/beef platter instead of their wrap as the waitress mentioned that the wrap has no fries included. Therefore, I assumed that the last time I came, I ordered the platter too. When the food arrived, it was not the same as the previous time. Ok fine, since this has more meat and fries (as said by the waitress). Took a bite of the chicken and fries and it was not hot at all! We told the waitress about it and she offered to heat it up for us. It was still the same after the reheating. We decided to just have it lukewarm as we were hungry already. Ordered the small pizzas and it tastes like cheese/meat bread which we don’t find it tasty at all.

When we asked for the bill, the cook asked how the food was and I feedback to him that the food was not hot at all even after reheating it. He apologies about it and when the waitress came back with the change, she too apologies again.

Nice ambience + nice fries + not bad service = 3rd try?

After dinner, it was only 7.45pm and we thought that it was too early too head home as it was a Saturday night after all. So, I suggested Ben and Jerry @ Suntec as I’ve not really tried their ice cream before and it was a new branch.

. menu . mix & match .
. our ice-cream . sign board .

We shared the Mix & Match of cherry garcia, chocolate fudge brownie and chocolate chip cookie. Perhaps we ordered the wrong flavours as we find their ice cream normal only. Will try their other more unique flavours in future.

After the sweet dessert, we head back home and luckily I was back in time to watch "The sad love story". keke

Korean Food @ Togi

Dinner was a Togi Korean Restaurant @ Mosque Street with Sis and Zr.

Though I had tea time of pau at home and they had Chippy’s Triple C over at Far East, we still ordered quite a few dishes.

. side dishes . chicken soup . cutting the chicken .
. kimchi tuna fried rice . kimchi tuna ramen . s
aba fish .

The ginseng chicken was nothing to rave about as I don’t really fancy ginseng soup and the chicken was rather bland. The rest of the dishes were nice. This time they added quite a lot of tuna chunks into the ramen. I remembered the last time I went there with Lx, only a couple chunks or tuna could be found in her ramen

We were bloated after the dinner; however, we could not think of any places to hang out, therefore Zr drove us home. If only Sg has more night markets like Bangkok…

Liang Shanbo yu Zhu Yingtai @ Jubilee Hall.

Went to watch Hainanese Opera - Liang Shanbo yu Zhu Yingtai (Butterfly Lovers) after work today. Daddy asked if we wanted to go as I think he has extra tickets so Sis and went along.

We had dinner at Chin Chin (along Purvis Street) 1st before heading to Raffles Hotel- Jubilee Hall for the show. It had been a long time since I last went Chin Chin to have dinner. We used to have dinner frequently there last year when I was working near town area. Too bad, they serve the Chinese style mutton soup only on Friday, Sat and Sun. Anyhow, we still had the other delicious Hainanese food.

. menu . ladle and bowls . hainanese mixed vegetables .
. hainanese pork chop . chicken . bitter gourd soup .
. kaya toast . the one and only pink London cab in Sg . pink “bread” van

. Raffles Hotel - Jubilee Hall.

. Background - Zhu Yingtai (dressed as a male) & Liang Shan Bo .
. Foreground - Zhu Yingtai & Liang Shan Bo .

Sis, Mummy and I did not stay for the whole show and we left after the 6th part as we were too tired having to read the Chinese subtitles screen which was placed at the side of the stage. Daddy stayed for the whole show and he said that 2 fake butterflies “flew” down from the top to the stage during the last part. Haha, so that was what the 2 strings were for...

Initiative

"You got to be initiative to follow up on the issues between our company and your colleague" said a customer.

If I were to do so for everything I passed on to someone for follow-up, then I think I'll have to work more than 8 hours a day.

But am I paid enough to do that much?

Lunch @ Crystal Jade Kitchen (Holland V)

We had lunch at Holland Village Crystal Jade Kitchen today for Shirlyn’s belated birthday and farewell lunch for Yingwei. I seldom visit CJ Kitchen as I’m not really into porridge and Chinese noodle but as Ghaya have not tried before we decided to head there.

We ordered the following:

  1. claypot tofu with diced chicken and salted fish (comparable with I.T)
  2. lemon chicken (I seriously don’t know why they ordered this as I’ll rather get their specialty - roasted duck/pork)
  3. shrimp rice roll (does not melt in the mouth like I.T)
  4. pan fried carrot cake (too mushy, prefer I.T)
  5. local spinach with oyster sauce (normal)
  6. char siew pastry (nice)
  7. glutinous rice chicken (pic says it all - below average. prefer I.T) you’)
  8. deep fried pork ribs (normal -with tinge of garlic taste)

*Imperial Treasure = I.T
*Crystal Jade = CJ

I guess I'll stick to their specality dishes like roasted duck, pork or porriege if I were to go CJ Kitchen again. Personally, I prefer some of I.T dim sum and dishes to CJ Kitchen. Speaking of CJ, nothing beats their CJ Palace's “palace fried rice” and fried fish fillet... *slurp*

Saturday @ Dhoby Ghaut

Went to Plaza Sing with Sis in the late afternoon as she wanted to go to Spotlight and check out something. After walking around for an hour, we decided have a rest and have high tea @ for Cosy Tea. It’s actually a vintage store which has a small restaurant in it. Too bad, we weren’t allowed to take pictures as the table ware and décor were rather exquisite. We shared the scones and I had the tea tasters which consist of 4 small cups of Lavender, Rose, Earl Grey and Raspberry while Sis had a cup pf Early Grey. Overall it was a nice experience.
. noodle omelete with ham and cheese .
ZR met up with us for a simple dinner at the food court as we’ll be heading down to a newly opened restaurant bar - Giraffe, located over at the Istana Park to chill out.
The couches were not very comfortable for chilling out; therefore we stayed for about an hour and headed home after our drinks and wedges. Interior design of the palce looks good, wonder how's the food?

Hair Cut by Richard

I went to Compass Point to have my haircut today after work as my hair stylist was relocated to one of the salon there. It might be my last time having him to cut my hair as he’ll be going to Penang to start up a salon. As I mentioned to him that I might be going to Redang in June, he suggested dropping by Penang after my trip and I can have my haircut and rebonding (which is 6 months since I last did it) there. Haha, great suggestion. Maybe I should think about it since Mummy has a friend staying in Penang. Maybe I can meet up with Mummy over there??

Alternatively, he recommended his colleague to me and perhaps I can go to her next time to try out their rebonding. Hopefully, she’ll be able to cut my hair the way he does it or maybe better? We’ll see…

Absolut IceBar Stockholm VS Office

I feel like I'm back to the Absolut IceBar Stockholm when I'm in the office.
No joke on it, the toilet mirrors are covered with "mist" due to the condensation and the walls near the door are wet too. Plus, I heard from the cleaning auntie that the floors dries up only around 9.30am though she mops it before 8.30am.
It's freaking cold here *brrr brrr* BUT the weather outside is scorching hot when we're out for lunch...

Sugar cakes

Sugar cakes used to be my favorite snack when I was younger. Wrapped in a pink paper, these sticks of sugar cakes are sweet and soft which melts in the mouth.

Passed by a push cart this evening which sells many different kind of chinese snacks and I bought the below. It’s the sesame version and it’s actually my 1st time eating it. Somehow, I don’t really enjoy it as much as I used to. But anyhow, it’s nice to reminisce about those days when I used to eat them in my grandma’s place…

Where're my blind spots???

Argh….. Why can’t I just drive properly??? I keep on forgetting to check my blind spots and do safety checks when parking. I seriously got to remind myself to do those during my next few lessons else I’ll be so dead for my test which is booked for at the end of this month.

On another note, my shoulders are aching and how I great it'll be if I can have a shoulder massage now…

A pic to motivate myself

Lovely Present

Received the below present from Lx when she went to BKK recently. Haha, she knows that I've lots of earrings therefore it's the perfect gift!! Thank you!

As you can see, it's not filled up as I did not hang all the earrings I have because I'm afraid that they might tarnish if left in the "open". Therefore, only a few are up on the holder. No worries, I'm sure as time goes by, more will be added to it. keke

On another note, I'm still in the mood on doing digi scraping and have just offered my colleague to help her do one over the weekend. As there aren't many "piece of cake" layout online, I got to start doing the scraping from scratch with the use of downloaded papers/embellishments etc ...

Unexpected

Life is weird.

Sometimes, things happens when you least expect it.

But when you're looking forward to it, it does not happen.

p/s: not that I'm complaining that it happened :p

"Super Madnes" Lunch

Today’s driving lesson was a drag as I don’t like the instructor. It was the same instructor which I had for my last Sat lesson. He’s a new instructor to me and somehow I feel like he does not “understand” me as he’s not the few instructors which was assigned to me for my 30+ lessons over the past 3 months

Hope that I don’t get him for my next few revisions…*fingers crossed*

After lesson, Mummy and I headed down to a temple at Balestier before going to Novena Sqaure for lunch as I wanted to try Ichiban Boshi’s Super Madness $5 set meal, which starts only from 3pm .

The set meal was value for money as the set comes with a choice of main course, tea/coke, miso soup and gyoza.

. menu . wasabi . black pepper salmon set (mummy's) .
. pork cutlet curry set (mine) . gyoza . miso soup .
. wasabi and ginger slices . interior . iciban boshi .
As we'll be having steamboat for dinner tomorrow, we went to Bishan NTUC to buy the necessary ingredients. Can't wait for it as we've been saying for the longest time to have steamboat at home and finally we gonna do it!!

Claypot Rice @ Clementi

Yesterday, we managed to get 5/6 people out for dinner. It’s actually quite difficult to get everyone involved in any mini “gathering” as usually people can’t make it or they do not wish to go.

After work, we proceeded to Clementi to have the famous claypot rice. The food arrived faster than we expected. Though, it was a simple dinner, it was nice to hang around with colleagues after work. We spent about 15 mins after dinner goofing in front of the camera before heading back home.

. unmixed chicken claypot . watercress soup . vegetables .
. well mixed chicken claypot . empty . dark soy sauce .
. oil and dark soy sauce . our bags . clementi
(the food taste better than it looks on the pics)

On another note, I’ve started on Digi Scraping. Yeah!!! Just finished my 1st set using my childhood pictures. Got to start downloading all those nice free kits online…

"Magic Numbers"

My "magic numbers" are losing its power for this month :(
Dinner plans had to be postponed and only window shopping from now till 14th Apr...

Hang Hueng Wife Biscuit

I love the wife biscuit from Hang Hueng Hong Kong. Sis went to HK last week and came back with a box of 6. Just had another one for dinner and I think I ate a total of 3 already. Though it's not as fresh compared to last Friday, it's still nice.

They came to Singapore a few weeks before Chinese New Year in Jan and had a booth over at Great World City. I happened to go there for lunch and I bought 2 pieces for Daddy, but I think he did not eat it, also bought 4 pieces of their small walnut cookie to try. Haha, Sis bought me a big walnut cookie during this trip.

I heard that they'll back in June to set up the booth again. Yeah!! I'll make my trip down and grab a box of it then.

Counting down... Apr, May, June

Meeting, Shopping & Eating

Woke up at 7.30am today though it’s a Saturday as we’ve a company event at Trader’s Hotel. I was so afraid that I’ll be late as an email has been sent out informing us to be punctual and to be seated by 10.30am.

I took the train and reached Orchard at 9.15am which was too early. Therefore, I had my “morning walk” from the train station to Trader’s Hotel. It was quite a wrong choice as it was quite humid today...

The whole thing ended at 1.30pm. after which Janice and I went shopping!!! We proceeded to Thai Embassy 1st as they’ve a fair there and I bought 3 crochet flowers and a rubber hair band for a total of $5. (saw it selling for $8 each in a shop @ Heeren, with pins attached) The lady there was so funny, we were asking her why does some flowers do not come with the pin and she started to reply to us in Thai. We then repeated our question in English and slower so as to let us know that we’re actually repeating the question as we do not understand what she’s talking about. For the next 2 minutes, she continued in Thai. Luckily, the stall owner beside her helped us translate else we’ll get stuck there not knowing how she is going to charge me for the 4 items.

We then shopped along Orchard before taking a free shuttle bus down to Marina Square. There were so many trendy shops in Marina, however I cant really concentrate shopping as my feet hurts from the new shoe that I wore.

Dinner was at Carl’s Jr. Though we shared the meal, it was very filling as the servings were big. I’ve always wanted to try Carl’s Jr since the opened last year and finally I got the chance to eat it. Verdict - the burger tastes like Burger King’s but the cheesy beef fries were rather special.

notepad . darjeeling tea . doodle .
sauces . chessy beef fries . onion rings .
super star with cheese burger . carl's jr ice lemon tea . half of the burger .

Yummylicious Friday

Took these pics at Ghim Moh

After work, I met Mum and Sis at Paragon as Sis wanted to get the SE K750i too. Great choice!!

Anyway the queue @ M1 was so long yesterday, they told us that the minimum waiting time was 1.5 hours. And they were not joking at all. We were done at 8pm and after discussing for a long time on what to have for dinner, we settled for Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant @ Taka again as I wanted to try out their other food.

menu . local spinach with assorted eggs (chicken eggs, salted eggs and century eggs) .
goose, roast pork and char siew combo . claypot beancurd with slated fish and diced chicken .

The food was yummy!!! The goose’s skin was crispy and the oil taste was indescribable.
Sis and shared a bowl of rice which I ate majority of it as I can’t resist it especially with the gravy from the vegetables :p. We were too full to try the dessert (souffle egg white ball with red bean paste and banana)

Emotional Freak

I become an emotional freak once a month. I'm so affected during PMS that I get irritated with the slightest thing. Some listed below are what I faced this week:

- when people don't get straight to the point when asking me questions
- kids screaming @ the top of their voices
- girls who "sa jiao" with their other half (thank god for my Mp3)
- fishy smell (Dad had fish for dinner)
- etc... (cant think of any at the moment)

With my weird mood swings and to think far far ahead, I wonder if I'll develop postnatal depression or how I'll be like when I go through menopause...

On another note, this week has been hectic for everyone in the office. Tomorrow would be a "big" day for us as there would be a major change announced.

Korean Snack @ Work

I seem to be having problems with my gadgets this week. I've not installed Photoshop CS2 in my PC; some pictures in my handphone didn't appear. Luckily I've saved it in my PC already. But it’s weird that it went "missing", I hope it’s because I did not remove the cable in the proper way.

Anyway, we did some stuff in the office today which shows how inefficient the things are in our office. I've been here for about 8 months, and I've been hearing the management asking us the same old question in the past 3 meetings I've attended. It’s not that we did not provide solutions but what can we do when the management does not do anything? Heard that the problem has been there for many years...Oh well, what more can I say??

Anyway, one of my colleague just went back to Korea and brought us some snacks. It did not really taste like what’s is supposed to be as written on the packaging, but I quite like it as it's a cakey snack.

High Tea on a Saturday Afternoon

Treated Mum and Dad to Imperial Treasure Nan Bei Restaurant @ Taka for high tea.
I've been there a few times and always had their high tea set. I love their pineapple bun and borsche soup.

Decided to have dim sum this time round as I've heard many raves from Les Dames.

lean meat congee . pineapple bun . xiao long bao . chicken wings + fries
pan fried carrot cake . jasmine tea . glutinous rice chicken . egg tart
shrimp rice roll . gui ling gao . syrup . decor

Mum had the high tea set which consist of pineapple bun, chicken wings + fries and milk tea. Daddy had the lean meat porridge and his favourite dessert - gui ling gao. The rest of the food were shared amoung the 3 of us. Afraid that Dad would still be hungry, Mum wanted to order a plate of crispy noodles. But when Dad heard that it was $14, he said no... can get it from coffee shop for $4 only. Haha...

Anyway I'll like to visit this restaurant again and try out other food. Maybe this Sat with my colleagues?? Can't wait. keke

p/s: the egg tarts comes in 3, they took it before I could take a pic of it.

Headache

After "debating" against my own, I've decided to pop down a Panadol. The last thing I wish to happen is to develop a fever, though I've only got a headache since early morning.

Layout change

I'm in the midst of changing the blog layout. Wanted to have a personalize header at the top, but I just cant seem to get it right. Will see how it goes, else I'll stick to blogger's default template.

I'll soon be blogging more about food, restaurant etc that I've tried, with pictures attached. Seems like I've been blogging about unhappy stuffs which I face in work. I need to change that as I don't wish to keep unhappy memories...

I can't wait to get my hands on doing Digi Scraping.
But but but.... I do not have the wonderful software - Photoshop yet!
I'll install the trial version (30 days) over the weekend first and see how I fare in Digi Scraping. *excited*

Glitz & Glamour

Our company is going to have the annual D& D @ Swissotel in Apr and the theme is Glitz & Glamour (G&G). We've anticipated quite long for this and I'm glad that we have a theme this time. I've heard that previous years were just Dinner & Dance (without the dance). I would say that it was just a company dinner for them.

Having heard of the news, my 2 other colleagues and I got super excited. I was asking them what they will wear as I've already thought of what to wear. As they do not have suitable dresses, we decided to go shopping in 2 weeks time for the perfect dress.

However, the mood was spoiled when we realize that our other colleagues will not really dress up for this "event". To them, Glitz and Glamour = tube top + jeans + dangling earrings/wedding dinner kindda clothes. Actually, I'm fine if they decide not to really dress up for it as I do have a nice corset tube or dress (without having to look to wow!)

As we have the Mr Glamour and Ms Glitz award that night, I hope that people will really let down their hair and have fun. We're also thinking of having a post D&D on our own around C.H.I.J.M.E.S / Raffles Hotel

Bring on the music and let the party begin!!! (or so I hope)

Summary of Chinese New Year

Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

Waiting for time to pass as I've got to attend my theory trial @ 6.55pm and it's too early for me to leave the office (though my colleagues have gone home)

Celebrated Lunar New Year few days ago and I ate pretty much too:

Had steamboat with my friends on New Year's Eve's Eve

Steamboat again on New Year's Eve & sushi and croquette

Breakfast and lunch (with an hour in between) on the first day of New Year. Dinner was Mac's

Steamboat again on the 2nd day. Pop over to aunt's place to help her as she prepared quite a lot sushi and croquette. This year's lunch had a variety of food and we think it was way too much. Got to cut the "supply" down next year. keke

On the 3rd day, we went to uncle's place for hot plate. Beef, fog log, salmon, prawns, vegetables, cray fish etc was on the menu.

Pity that I did not take pictures of the food.

Got to go, else I'll be late for my trial.

P/s: Somehow I think that this post "sounds" weird

Friday Night Out

Visited Double-O yesterday night for Janice's birthday party and had the following drinks:

-1 lychee martini,
-1 tequila shot,
-1 whisky coke,
-1 tequila shot,
-1 vodka 7-up,
- Few sips of vodka redbull

Should have realize earlier that it was too much for me, however the dizziness came only after the vodka redbull...

When Janice's friend pulled us to the dance floor, I was wondering how should I dance???

Upon seeing the crowd - moving around, shaking, and some real dancing, I tried "dancing" after another tequila shot as I thought I should at least try than stand there looking weird.

Overall, it was a pretty fun night with the "dancing", drinking and hanging out with some colleagues.

My sis says that she can dance (clubbing kind). Maybe one day, we should head down to Zouk/MoS together yeah? keke

Work Smart, Play Hard

Just a random thought which came across when working:

Sometimes, it might just be the "huge" amount of work done by you the boss sees that really counts.

But not the ACTUAL amount of work you've done... but no one sees.

Random

I've started my driving lesson since early Dec and this is my 1st post about it.

I kind of like it so far as I've improved in a few things which I've preformed rather badly in the past lessons.

Hope that I am able to book for my test in February and pass it on my first attempt
*fingers crossed*

Christmas was rather fun this year. We exchanged presents among our group in the office. Received a few presents from colleagues too.

23rd - we went to Marche for dinner and chilled out @ LASH.
24th - driving lessons in the early morning before bringing Daphne and Lina "touring" around Singapore with Sis. The crowd was everywhere!

25th - had pretty nice dinner @ Carlton hotel with family.

Nothing much to blog about as life is pretty the same...

Sensitivity

I realized I've become rather sensitive to what people say these days.
Is it because of my working environment that made me wary of people around me?
Is it because it's near that time of the month?
Or is it a just Scorpio's thing?

I was trying to remove a big staple, which was stuck in a document to prevent cutting myself accidentally someday.
In the midst of it, I cut my finger! It is still bleeding now even though I've put plaster over it. Sianz...

It's Not Funny

It's not funny when a*d*t*r* get MC, medical appointment etc during this peak period.

It's not funny when appointments are fixed for them and confirmed months before but yet I've to re-sched it.

It's not funny when there's nothing I can do about it. (I can't add in "days" to a 31 days calendar, can I?)

It's not funny when I'm supposed to be thinking of solutions instead of writing this "not funny" entry.

Random updates

I received a piece of shocking news from a friend recently. I can't believe it's happening to someone around me!

To her:
Though there might be different views on that matter, I truly hope that there'll be a closure soon and everything would be fine.

On another note, I'll be starting with my driving lessons soon. Basic theory on 28th Nov, 1st practical lesson on 30th Nov... *excited* After which, there'll be at least 3 lessons per week till Jan. *burns a hole in my pocket*

I can't wait to buy a new mobile phone, my present phone is killing me - can't talk on the train (bad recep), "space" key for SMS is screwed up and the phone is super laggy!
I should be getting the SE k750i. Fell in love with it when I first saw one of my distant relative in Macau using it in June. However, I'm in a dilemma now on whether to buy it now or in mid Dec (after pay day & bonus).

Oh yes, I've a childish 40+ yr old male colleague who is stepping on my tail almost everyday. Grow up pls! I pity me ears for having to hear you say things that are just so immature.

It's a Plastic World

Some people can be such a biatch to work with, and it's a real toture having to face them.
It's such a shame, but I do admit to some people around me that I am "plastic woman"....

I get real pissed off with things easily.

And I am crying while writing this...

Not to rely on VERBAL agreement

I dislike the HR people in my co. "It's a verbal agreement" she said.

Stupid woman!!! I'll give her my blackest face if I see her again.

Hope this matter gets settled soon.

New Chapter

I have got many things to blog about since last week, but I was too tired mentally to do so. Therefore, here is a quick recap:

10/6/05 - Last day of week with my previous co. I was VERY busy that day as I've got many things to clear and handover. Went back home at 7pm. Felt a little bu4 she3 de2...

13/6/05 - 1st day of work at new co. Colleagues are fine to work with (at the moment, not sure if it still is in the future). Food there is quite expensive - minimum of $3 per meal. The bak chor mee cost $4 lor... Keke this will sound cheapo, but I have set a budget of $3 per meal.

15/6/05 - Went to watch PCK musical ALONE. Haha, also don't know why I "dare" to go alone. But since the ticket is free and I've wanted to watched it, so I decided to go ahead with it and I am so "proud" I did so. I think I'm getting pretty independent these days. But better not to be too independent else become spinster ah.. haha

This is quite bad - within 2 days in the co, I knew that I won't be working there for long (around 2 year). The job scope is too "dry". Nevertheless, continuing pursuing my studies is on my list now so I'll just see how it goes...

Today: Finally went for hair rebonding after doing it 1 year ago. This time round, my hair stylist is "willing" to layer my hair which is definitely a change for me. Though it's quite expensive but it's sure easier to manage my hair now. Also, I realized that I'll always rebond my hair before I go for a trip. Haha, want to look nicer on the pictures mah..

I foresee having some small dispute with my previous co on $$$ matters. Will not blog about it as it'll be rather long to explain the situation and I am too tired to have any more topics about them.
*Majority of my posts here are my complaints when working there. And since I am no longer with them, I wish to put all to an end.

p/s: somehow, i feel that the writing style for this post "sounds" weird

Ugly day

I felt so ugly today:
- bad complexion (can't wait for my facial session this Sat)
- super untidy hair ( I seriously need a cut and rebonding soon)

It's not my fault okay...

OMG! The following is so ridiculous and funny. My colleague who's in Thailand told me that the appointments over there are quite bad as the partners have been cancelling the appointments last minute. I was like huh, so? not my fault okay? The end customer can't make it so got to cancel it. I'm only responsible of fixing up appointments with the partners. Don't make it sound like I am handling their schedules.... This is so sick! I am so glad that I'll be out of here soon.

Tuesday, June 07, 2005

Nice conversation

Just spoke to this customer in Thailand. Not sure if he's Thai anot. But I like speaking to him as I am able to understand him (no thai accent). Plus he is very very polite. Haha speaking to him kind of brightens me up...

Ok ok enough of nonsense. I realised that I've been blogging like twice a day and when I am @ work...

Unhappy :(

I am not very sure if I've made the right choice as I understand that the job scope is rather mudane. Many people will say yes, this is the right choice due compared to my current company. I need a change of working environment too, so I guess this is the 1st step out.

On another note, I am really unhappy that things have gone quite bad between me and my current company. Now, they want me to pay back the 17 days notice amount of about $1300 plus and my future employee is only willing to fork out $385. Actually I can don't pay as I did not sign any contract/letter. But I am afraid that they won't pay me back my 2 months claims. Just feel like slapping myself as my Mum always told me to get my claims asap. And I've been dragging it for so long.

Can't wait for this to be over and start afresh on Monday.

Waiting...

2.5 hours seems to be a long time away. Especially when the call I am waiting might change the path I am about to walk for the next 2 years or so...

Saturday, June 04, 2005

Dilemma!!!

80% of the chances are that I may get the job that I went for an interview yesterday. But, they want me to start on the 13th and they're willing to "pay" my current company a week of my salary.

I expressed my interest in joining them yesterday but the starting date is a factor - one week notice to my employer is unfair to them. And the pay they're offering is not what I expected but he told me that it'll be after the probation period.

Is this what I've been waiting for all this while??

26 mins conversation with my sec sch friend

As above. It was still the same kind of loud laughter and sarcastic conversation. She updated me with the latest news happening around our old friends. And she blamed me for going MIA and that my secondary school friends are looking for me; they can't find me in Friendster. Keke...

Anyway, 2 girl from our class got into JAL and the other SQ lor...(feel the green monster coming out). Hmph, so jealous can...
To console myself "I'll rather get served on board then having to serve people".Which is actually quite true, I should aim higher than being a waitress on a plane.

This friend is having a 21st birthday celebration this month on the 25th and I can't go as I am going HK. Kind of disappointed as I really wish to attend and meet up with all my old friends.
But I wonder if it'll be weird to see them after so many years. If I do meet up with them, I'll sure get "scoldings" from them for losing contact with the group :p

Good Luck

I went for an interview session this morning and I really hope to hear good news on Monday. However, if I do, I wish to hear two pieces of good news:
1) I am selected
2) Start work on 1st July instead of 2 weeks time

Keeping my fingers cross; wish me luck!!!

The boy who cried wolf

I fully understand the morale of this story now.

When someone tells me the same thing many times for months and it is not fufilled, the next time he tells me again, the excitment is no longer there, as to me, it's just another sentence coming out from him

Chicken rice? White rice?

I wanted to have Chicken rice for lunch just now. Walked in to the shop
Auntie: Yes, what you want?
Me: One packet chicken rice
A: Soy sauce or white chicken?
M: White. Eh do you all have white rice?
A: Nope
M: Oh... then is ok. (walked out)
A: Eat chicken rice but want to have it with white rice... yada yada

Cannot eat chicken rice with white rice meh? I asked because they're selling other dishes too so I thought they might have it. *sianz*

Wonder if the other customers heard her....

Disgusting Behavior

There's one customer who's unhappy with the way my manager is handling her account.
But this manager does not know about it. He thinks that the problem lies in the customer and kept telling me how to handle this problem when HE is the one who caused all this!!!!

Over the phone, I feel like just telling him "The customer is not happy with you. So please don't tell me how to handle this because I don't wish to screw it up like you did!"

Whenever he learnt about this particular colleague did not handle customers well enough, he'll broadcast it to the whole office including the boss. Imagine me telling the boss about what happened to this account. *Hmph*

His behavior is disgusting!

Hungry

Almost 1.5 months sinced I last wrote.
Anyway, I just emailed 2 resumes for the position of training executive. Ionically, my job now is getting slightly better now. I'm beginning to do the technical support and it feels good when I can install/upgrade it successfully for customers.
It's always a learning experience when I do that.

On a hungry note:
I feel like eating good food. Haha, sis, you should know that... Steamboat buffet, porridge buffet, Shima *drooling* I even have a list of restaurants/food that I want to visit. So many more to go...

It's 3pm now and I am still deciding whether I should cook the Korean instant noodles for "lunch". The craving for instant noodles is in me for such a long time. We have the Korean kimchi flavour, "chu qian yi ding" chilli flavour, "tung i" chicken & abalone flavour ones at home. Mum is nagging at us for stocking up on so many instant noodles. Next up on my list is Myojo chicken flavour ones. *yum yum*

Ok, think I'll settle for wholemeal bread with ham and corn soup for now...

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

Quite tired to blog in sentences so I shall do it in point form again:

- Firstly, Happy Chinese New Year!!!
- Visited the Singapore Art Museum to see Botero's paintings/sculptures & Russell Wong photo exhibition - free entrance as it was a Friday.
- Quite happy with my job now (see how it goes)

The following will be too long to be in point form so here goes...

This friend of mine has been asking me like for don't know how many times to attend the B**'Air talk/sign up as a member and about a month ago I relented and went for the talk. I really wanted to become a member after attending the talk but I didn't in the end.

After the talk this friend has been asking me to meet up for dinner. I though it'll be a dinner for catching up BUT she'll always ask if I want to meet up at Commonwealth (where their office or don't know what is there la) and go and listen to the talk AGAIN but a different speaker.

Alamak!!!!! When I told her I'm not interested and she'l ask why, sure got reason one...blah blah blah.

She'll also ask me how's work; if I still want to continue working there, then I'll sound very bored and answer her question.

She: Don't think too much la
Me; Huh?
She: Talk about your work then you sound so sianz
Me: No la, I'm ok (I sound sianz because you always ask/say the same old thing to me lor!!!)

Argh!!!! I better stop else I can write a 2 page word document about this B**' Air thing which tried to "enter" my life since last July

B**'Air - "we don't do retailing, we do franchising" Franchising = $1000 of membership fee and they'll give to you $1000 worth of products for you to bring home. Ermm...so what's the difference of retailing and their so called "franchising"???

Visit to the Doc

I went to visit the doctor during my lunch time. Fungal Infection on my scalp. Enough said. The thought of it gross me out...
Don't be mistaken, its not head lice. The doc just use the term - Fungal Infection.
Felt so much better after the visit. At least I don't have to keep on looking at the mirror and worry if it's anything serious.
Going back for a review 2 weeks later. Hope everything will be ok.

On another note, I've been receiving quite a number of nuisance calls these days.
Most of them are Ind*** asking if I offer s**. SHIT!!! Someone must have been using my number on those stupid chat lines..

One Chinese guy just called and don't know ask for who. Conversation as of below:

Guy: Hello, are you (name)
Me: Again?
Guy: Looking for (name)
Me: No such person. What number did you call?
Guy: this no. I got it from someone
Me: No such person
Guy: Ok sorry

I was SO ANGRY that I called him back (he used his HP to call me)

Me: U called earlier
Guy: ah yes
Me: U said you got my number from someone? WHO?
Guy: yah, my friend gave it to me
Me: Where did he get it from?
Guy: *sounds worried* eh I think he get the wrong no. sorry ah
Me: I HOPE SO
Guy: sorry about it
Me: *slam down the phone*

Well, well...I'm not so busy these days so can "entertain" all these calls. Thinking of numerous ways on dealing them...But the easiest is to ignore those calls, as they often use public phones. Thinking of my next move already...

Same day, last year...

On my way to work this morning, I was listening to my mp3, when I noticed this young guy asking the lady sitting beside him something and pointing out of the bus. And if I'm not wrong, he should be asking if this is the stop to alight to go to the SLF building. He looks like he's going for his 1st day of attachment.

I looked at my watch and realized that this same day, last year, I too reported for my 1st day for attachment. My memories of my entire journey during the attachment program are still quite intact.

Thinking of which, I feel rather sad (in fact I nearly teared). I don't know why. But being out in the working world for one year already, it hit me real hard recently that I really got to start thinking of what I really want in life.

I've been procrastinating on looking for a new job for months and I've to admit that it's because I am afraid of being in a total new environment again. So, for this new year of 2005, I need to overcome that fear - may the force be with me :)

Free Labour???

One of my clients is simply taking me for granted. She wants me to help her scan in her products into the system!!! EXCUSE ME!!! I am not one of your staff ok! Even though I've helped her key in some stuffs previously but it does't mean that I'll be helping you all the time. Well, I have a suggestion on for her - stop MSNing and spend more time WORKING.
And when I told her to ask her beautician to help her, she said they're busy with facials and training. I told her I'll be busy this week and I can assist her through the phone. Then she said that we're supposed to help her.
Yes, my job is to help her in terms of training and assisting but not doing HER job.

I'll be asking her to sign lots of stuffs later so that she can't deny the fact that I've been training her on how to do those things.

She's getting on my nerves already!!!

Merry X'Mas!!!

Yesterday, I always surfing the web and came upon a blog of a girl. Like me, she just graduated from poly and is working too.
Her office Santa gave her a big Christmas this year - IPod Mini from her bosses this Christmas *Envy*AND with her name engraved behind *ENVY*ENVY*

How great it is to be working in a good company whereby you enjoy what you're doing and your colleagues are great people to work with.

My office
Santa - "Merry Christmas Geraldine" (-.-)

Allow me to rant again:
I don't like my present job in terms of working environment and my colleagues. Not that they're mean or nasty people but it seems to me that I'm not treated as one of the staff here. Well, why do I think so? - I was not invited to the Christmas party or any gatherings...
Forget about asking me about my 13 month bonus or any incentives. I was even reprimanded when I ask about my overseas allowance the other time.

On a happier note:
My Santa @ home is GREAT!!!
- My long awaited MP3 player is finally in my hands... Thanks to sis for paying half of it and her bf for helping us get such a good price.
- Received my 21st birthday present from Mum (and my b'day is like 10 months away)
- Bought shoes and earrings (cost is shared with my sis)
- Had wonderful lunchs during Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day!!!

Battle with the Mosquitoes

Wanted to blog about how I forgot to bring my Hp out this morning, and this "crazy" old lady who sat beside me on the bus. But the previous sentence sums up - I had a bad start this morning.

My office has Mosquitoes!!! Actually this is not surprising to me, as I've got bitten too many times already. My legs are showing how much they're worth (10 cents, 20 cents etc). Despite wearing pants to work yesterday, the VERY hungry mosquito bit my feet. Desperados!!!

Think I'm going to get insect repellent - spray it on my legs/feet before I go to work everyday.

I wonder how many people do the above before going to work??? Except for those army guys...

Wanted to blog since last Saturday but was rather bored/tired to do so.

Went to my client's grand opening (G.O) at Suntec on Saturday and understand the meaning of GO. G.O for business owners = selling of packages to everyone. G.O to me = $406 flew out of wallet unwillingly. I'll be having my facials there forthe next 7 months. Let's see how it goes... it better be good manz...

Singapore Idol:
Before the show started, I was thinking that I'll vote for who ever sing well. In the end I voted about 15 times for Sly. Don't know why I voted so many times, but seeing him last night just made my sis and I voting for him "crazily". Our combined votes of 30 was not enough to make him the first Singapore Idol. Was feeling a little sad when Gurmit announced that the winner is Taulfik. No doubt, he sings well, but he just doesn't appeal to me.

I got to track my expenses rather tightly now, though I make sure that I don't spend more than $500 per month, my remaining salary seems to disappear. On the other hand, I've FINALLY received my Sept, Oct and Nov claims. Yeah!!!
